It is, but by god don’t grind your face against bosses that are too hard. I was having a bad time when I did three major bosses in a row, now I’m fucking around and exploring it’s much more enjoyable.

Was relocating a $10k piece of networking hardware and dropped it into another 10k VM server. Server was fine, network hardware was not. It was during a project that was a real mess, thought it was a stupid mistake though.
We were able to work around it, though we did lose the contract we were trying to make. Honestly though given how rushed and panicked that whole three months was though, we were lucky nobody suffered anything worse. Real shitshow.
I’m still running windows for now, but even then Vulkan has de-fucked a few games for me. Given the option, always Vulkan.
I’ve been doing the same thing, if the performance of a game feels like it could be better I slap that shit in there and it often drops GPU usage by at least half, it’s frankly ridiculous.
Honestly to God, while I get wanting to play an updated version of games you love, I played through the original trilogy off of gog a few months ago, and they have stood up remarkably well. I can’t help but see all of this as a bit silly.
Any recommendations for a beginner or hobbiest? I’m going to assume it goes beyond writing more performant code
That sucks my dude, it sounds like some really shitty people ruined something you liked. So far I’ve found that the only way to protect yourself against that stuff is to set healthy boundaries. It doesn’t have to be rude, but unfortunately some people see it that way. It’s a rough time.
I think it’s nice of you not to be mean. The industry turned me a bit mean as a defence against people constantly shoveling more work onto me. Try to protect it if you can! I miss my lack of mean dearly.
That’s actually a really good idea
Frankly given what they’ve promised and what’s already in there it could easily go to 3x. It’s fucking bananas. I was 30 runs in, and still finding new NPCs and events.
I would be happy with a 240hz 4k that doesn’t have a subtle hum when it’s going that hard. It’s hard to test for because shops are too loud to hear it, but in a quiet office it gets very noticeable.
There might still be something you can do, go to https://www.stopkillinggames.com/ and you can see what you can do based on your country.
Hell yeah my dude prioritise healthy art process
One could argue to get exclusivity of said IPs for their subscription service. They haven’t pulled the trigger yet, it’s possible they have aborted the plan entirely. I wonder if they even know what they’re doing.
We’re already riding it it I reckon. Should be like a deep breath out, but I think we’ll eventually recover.
I’m with you for the most part, but they aren’t a monopoly. The definition changes depending on who you ask, I’m going by the overwhelming market share + providing barriers to entry to competitors. They do debatably meet the market share, but I’d argue not the practices that bar the existence of competitors.
I feel like they’ve been very careful to not meet that second criteria and it’s been healthy to the games market as a whole. GoG has a different niche, humble bundle sells wholesale discounts, and every company has their own store, for better or worse.
Meanwhile epic gets on my nerves because it’s been throwing around exclusivity deals to their platform and throwing around free games, which are both tactics to try to undermine the others in the market. If they had the kind of userbase steam has, yes I’d say that would be a monopoly.
Ditto, and then you see people claiming they’re a monopoly despite not doing anything monopolistic, supporting other launchers in steam, and allowing keys purchased through other stores to activate on steam.
Meanwhile epic is throwing around exclusivity deals, but that’s fine because they’re too incompetent a storefront to make an actual impact I guess?
As in the occasional cuts or like actual constant pain? Not judging or anything just mildly concerned.
Little bit of everything I think. I personally have been getting tired of Microsoft pulling their shit, but without Valve making compatibility so simple for their launcher it would make it a much harder sell.
