Why is it blue?
It does, because I’ve tried to install some apps from Aurora store (denying network permission) and then I saw these requests on TrackerControl, so maybe those apps wantend to be opened by default with these links. We are talking about video player apps, so there is no need to default on them for Amazon.
From video description:
Reason 1: Gaming
Reason 2: Creative Apps
Reason 3: Foobar2000 (my music player)
Reason 4 (bonus) Fussing, fussing, fussing!
Different protocols? Like android’s mtp? Never had an apple device, what do they use?
I’ve used a bit xrdp and even less vnc. Can you please elaborate why is rdp better?
¯_(ツ)_/¯
GrapheneOS is only available for Pixel phones, so maybe that’s why they suggest /e/os.
I still don’t get why GNOME moved to RDP instead of sticking with VNC.
Embracing Microsoft technologies to better fit offices?
I don’t use searxng because I’m comfortable with ddg instant answers. We should build an open source alternative like duckduckhack.
Edit: Dunno why people downvoted, but in my opinion having a local js “addon” which for example can convert inch to cm if you search for “2inch in cm” (obviously all should be locally processed) would be very useful.
Asking a parrot if its house is safe.
I use DDG, BTW. But searxng is very cool.
is there any hidden data collection I should be aware of ?
Aka backdoors.
They played cat and mouse for a while, Facebook (Meta) moving the backdoor and NSO finding it again. I don’t trust their software.
Farewell.
Thanks for the alternatives.
I’m currently using a used ('cause fuck Google, you’re not gettin my money) Pixel phone with GrapheneOS (since my Pinephone stopped turning on) with TrackerControl and InviZible Pro. Is nice having a real clean AOSP rom with privacy/security customization.
GrapheneOS also provide an indeed cool feature: a proxy for Android services provided by Google, like Attestation key provisioning, Widevine provisioning, SUPL and PSDS. Does CalyxOS and/or LineageOS provide something like this?
Thanks in advance.
Politics is endangering the whole Lemmy, with instances defederated because of their political views and a lot of censorship.
Calm down folks! This is a web forum, people should be free to share what they think (without harassing anyone) without being censored, creating a biased platform.
I’m not into non-free-speech instances (like lemmy.world), but I do understand and respect their decision because it MAY decrease harassment between users. But please don’t defederate with everyone otherwise it would still be a biased platform. Let people choose what to see and just ban spam and real harassment (I’ve used too much this word).
I’m not into politics myself and it drives me crazy that we can’t rely on fine communities because they are on instances defederated by big instances because of their political views.
What privacy oriented rom do you suggest?
Anyway happy cake day!
I know Microsoft gave Gnome a donation of 10.000$ because they use Ubuntu (which use Gnome) and inside the repo (inside SPECS folder) I’ve seen gnome-commons to build gnoem stuff.
But yes, this is probably a server distro without a DE.
Seems to be based mostly on Fedora by reading the Readme.
I would like to know if it does use systemd and/or other redhat technologies.
In the readme they mention Qt, does anyone know what DE do they use?
Why?
