Summary:
Please add an option to automatically hide deleted posts, comments, and other content in Summit for Lemmy.
Currently, deleted items remain visible with only a red dustbin icon and a deletion notice at the bottom when clicked on, which clutters the interface and makes content management difficult.
Current Issue
- Deleted posts and comments still appear in the main feed, communities, dashboard, etc., only marked by a small icon, leading to confusion and unnecessary clutter.
- Users must manually ignore these, which disrupts browsing and content management.
Proposed Solution
- When a post, comment, or similar item is deleted, it should be automatically hidden from the main view.
- Add an option, filter, or toggle to “Show Deleted Content” for users who wish to review or manage their deleted items.
- Optionally, create a dedicated “Deleted” section or tab where all deleted content is listed separately for transparency and ease of access.
Benefits
- Cleaner, less cluttered user interface.
- Easier content management for users.
- Maintains transparency by allowing access to deleted items if desired, while keeping the main feed focused on active content.
Additional Notes
- Consider different behaviors for regular users and moderators, as moderators may need to see deleted content for community management.
- Clearly inform users about the federated nature of Lemmy and that deletion may not be absolute across all instances.
