When I was your age we had to build the processor with hammers and nails, kids these days all using prefabs, makes me sick.

When i was young and build my first pc’s i would always use just whatever cases i got from my friend who worked in IT. It was mainly these beighe/white hige ass server towers. So seeing these builds makes me kind of nostalgic. Some 15 years ago i was obsessed with building the smallest most powerful pc’s i could. There was often no room for anything and it was quite satisfying. Now i don’t even know anymore. I think i build a fishtank again.

Computers these days generate a lot more heat, so when you build them too tight you get thermal throttling and other issues. And lets not forget how video cards keep getting bigger and bigger, like we’re heading back to room-sized mainframe days.

You whippersnappers don’t know how good you have it! When I was your age, we only had flintstone hand axes to build our processors!

Congrats! Did you run into any issues? Did you make sure your monitor is plugged into the GPU and set the refresh rate in display settings? Did you enable XMP and reBAR and configure fan profiles in BIOS?

I reBAR was enabled by default on my motherboard. I enabled DOCP, monitor in GPU and I didn’t have to worry about the refresh rate since I use Linux. Thank you!

Resident Evil 4. Love the series but my optiplex 3020 couldn’t run any of the remakes. That changes now though!

    Looks super clean!

That feeling when you turn it on for the very first time is a sensation unlike any other. Also the last screw to be screwed in/or component to be placed lol.

That looks nice for your first build. I was browsing the comments but it was yet to be brought up, so here it goes.

Whenever you can, and if your PSU has available slot, try and use another PCIE cable going from your power supply to your RX 7700 XT. A single cable powering it might be fine for now but it can be taxing to the cable once you overclock or really pushing the GPU to the limit.

    Nonetheless, great job dude.

Good job! I’ve been looking for that GPU for a while but can’t get one at a price that makes sense. Enjoy gaming!

Thanks! I hope you find a good price. Thank god I haven’t been affected by the shortage yet! I got it for around 430€

Noyce cable management and specs, I built PC’s for 30 years…you sure this was your first build? jk.

I bought the same cooler couple of weeks ago without the rgb, best choice budget cooler imo. Got it cooling a 7800x3d real good.
