The FO1 pipboy looks pretty much like a tablet, they didn’t become wrist-mounted until Fallout 3. My point is that what people know as Fallout at this point is what the modern games show, it makes sense they’d lean on that. Lorewise the show has more to do with Fallout 1 and 2 than the Bethesda games.
