How is the game? The last time I played was many years ago and it was still in alpha, but I had lots of fun even with the poor optimization

How is it alpha stable?
After a decade of alpha, 7d2d is fairly stable when playing vanilla.
Once you bring in overhaul mods things get a little wobbly.
