The equalizer is Collective Power of all the people uniting in-person and online
After thinking about that it would be cool if that became feature somehow.
Limiting how many posts you can see per community on Lemmy
Being able to switch between seeing all post, a few, or none to help with curbing online addiction
Pretty good actually
They appreciated having a real alternative to apps that are turning out way less than ideal
They said they were having trouble learning about different aspects of it but will learn it overtime
My thoughts:
There is probably real power in just letting others be empowered by a better app, & letting them learn the ropes and what it is as they use it
The greatest teacher for anything is knowing the bare essentials, & then doing it no?

Think of it this way:
Would you rather leave door wide open and signs saying come inside and take all the info about me, along with all my moment
Or
Have your data, & money protected in all kinds of defense systems so it makes billions times harder to take all of that
That’s what security updates are for. Same for other apps as well when they find things bad actors will try to exploit
Reminder:
On Bluesky follow @runforsomething then run as well for any position that doesn’t have a viable candidate. The more people in power the more can change and much faster. Encourage others to as well
Same for switching to better alternatives using stuff like alternatives.net, Flashes, Spark, PeerTube, Revolt, & Element
Of course nothing beats action whether its solo or with others. So no matter how small do something every day, and better yet with others. With consistency that makes a big difference, and when it naturally evolves into big effort it’ll result in huge change
Everyone do what ya can to grow with others. Also @indivisible for new left, and @principlesfirst for new right parties (They had a bomb threat so they definitely don’t want the right to have new party)
Its a good thing we have ActivityPub (Lemmy, etc), & ATProtocol (Bluesky, etc)
They both are making huge strides for the better. Heres the Bluesky CEO video about what they are doing. The Bluesky CEO is also the one in charge of the ATProtocol itself. Crazy cool she and her team did both:
With every person dedicated to getting more people onto Better Platforms, Linux Distros, Fediverse, ActivityPub, and ATProtocol apps that just shines the light more and makes it a lot harder for anyone to spread lies or project their “power”
Linux Distros for Desktop:
Linux Mint Pop!_OS (Should be called Cosmic OS, sounds better) Fedora Workstation Asahi Fedora Remix
Mobile Android Alt Distros:
LineageOS GrapheneOS
For Fediverse Apps:
Mastodon PeerTube Lemmy Diaspora Sup
For ATProtocol Apps:
Bluesky Flashes Spark
Let’s spread the word ladies and gentlemen!!
Any word on how far along it is for touchscreens, to run as a TabletOS? And when we can start seeing KDE Tablets, TV’s, and Phones?
I know a person that had been in hospital most of their life so basically a 20 year covid-type of situation but for their own health. They are 24 now, and trying to socialize still even when they didn’t learn as a child-teen. I’m trying to help him but don’t know what to do since he’s such a unique case
I propose NimbleOS
Since it’s a mobile distro, & is very adaptable to what is needed and wanted
