Most models that I’ve played with are only about as good as what you put into it. If you ask it the right questions in the right way, you can get pretty good results.
GPT3.5 has worked well for me. I’ve also run AI on my pc locally using Ollama and lots of different models. Most do well with simple questions or requests.
Llama 3 instruct is what I’ve liked the most so far.
From my understanding, a lot of the products on amazon are resellers that buy stuff from alibaba and then resell it at a markup so it would not surprise me if that was the case.
They all looked the same when i was last on there searching for one.
I bought a dehumidifier off amazon that was “rated” for 800 sq ft.
Not only did it not live up to that promise, but it also served as the worlds shittiest ice maker. Ice formed on the radiator inside and stoped it from dehumidifying the air.
Thats right, you too can have a ice maker that makes ice in the shape of a radiator while ineffectively dehumidifying your home!
Best part was they reached out after I left a one star review and what they could do to change my rating.

Yea thats part of the reason I said generally. As I said, newer to linux and still learning but flatpaks can be more secure because they are sandboxed is my understanding.
That said, you’re not wrong to point it out. Sandboxes arent the be all end all to security of course. Any security is defeated if the end user doesn’t use logic and practice saftey when it comes to downloading any software.
I’ve seen good answers here but I just wanted to chime in as I’m a newer Linux user and as I’m learning more from running Fedora as my daily driver instead of Windows, I’m learning a lot and hope to help others learn as well.
Typically, most common software that you want to use will be in the repo for your distro or in a flatpak of some kind. If you’re downloading from your distributions repo, your typically not going to encounter viruses. Flatpaks are also generally safe as theyre sandboxed so the interactions they have with your system are generally read only.
That said, still use caution. Don’t run commands that you find online unless you know what they do, use ublock like you mentioned you already do, only download software from trusted sources and use the checksum to verify the files integrity and safety.
From the sound of it, you’re already doing what you should be, just wanted to add this if there were any other very new users with similar concerns about viruses.

They’re both around $330 where I’m at. The performance jump from my 1070ti to 6700xt is around 30% and 38% to a 6750xt. I figure the better option was a newer card with the extra vram. Either one seems to be a good upgrade for me.
Thats good to hear. Ive been hearing that Nivida has gotten better in Linux but i was still leaning towards amd even if price to performance isnt super great with the card im looking at.
I like to game at 1440 at 144hz so i feel like a 7600xt would work fine but its good to hear a more personal experience especially since you mentioned KDE since I was planning on installing Fedora with KDE.

Im pretty happy but due to ADHD im never really satisfied with what i have currently in a sense.
I’m very grateful for my job, my current living situation and my partner but im always looking forward to new projects and stuff that i wanna do. I finish one thing and i really like that and then i move onto the next thing cause i feel like i have to. Just cant sit still for too long.
How it happened is i just got lucky. I got a good family that helped me with a place to live, my buddy helped me get my current job in an IT adjacent position, and i met my gf on tinder when she was just about to leave the app for good.
So yea, just kinda got lucky. I do work hard too and struggled alot with ADHD and other mental health issues before getting diagnosed so im glad things worked out eventually.
I think framework laptops are a good investment if the company is still around when you need to repair or upgrade the system.
IMO i think its worth it to go with a framework if you can afford it. Having the ability to not only repair but upgrade components is a game changer and is something im heavily considering for a work/DND machine.

I kinda get why people get upset when someone wears one and they dont know any songs but at the same time, doesn’t really seem worth it to “call them out”.
Just dont be surprised if someone asks what your favorite song from them is if you’re wearing the bands merch.
Brother laser printers are good for everyone, not just Linux users.
Helped my gfs mom troubleshoot her HP printer (I know, ew. She bought it before we met) and finally figured out from the stupid app that it was out of one color.
The app doesnt indicate this in words though, Oh no. Just a stupid infographic that doesnt say ANYTHING. Just shows a nondescript bar at the top.
Only reason I downloaded it was i thought it would be a bit more user friendly.
Long story short I recommended a brother laser printer because the last time I replaced a cartridge in it was a couple years back and that was after printing things for god knows how long. And mine is old af.
Oh boy the ADHD is strong with this one.
Yea before meds, hyper focus usually came in small bursts but there was a whole 2 weeks and i do literally mean 2 weeks where i spent every waking moment trying to make a jellyfin server work. I worked night shift security at the time so it was wake up, work on the servwr before work, go to work, look up docs and videos, go home, sleep, rinse, repeat for two weeks straight.
I was new to Linux (and still am) so it took me so fucking long and i ended up doing it on windows in the end anyways. But yea after doing almost nothing else for two weeks, i was a liiiiittle burnt out.
My advice if you wanna play with tech but dont wanna spend the scratch, ask friends or family if they have old laptops or pcs they dont want and use those. Ive gotten 5 laptops this way.
Or ebay and other marketplace sites. Old hardware is still fun.
Lol prompts are important for sure. Me and my boss often talk about what you can do with chatgpt when we use it at work amd what kind of prompts we use.
