  • Birch bark torn into strips and layers makes good kindling. Sticks with little strips cut out and frayed to the side makes good tinder. Cotton balls covered in vaseline are my firestarters of choice. Drier lint is also good. If you’re using charcoal, the bag is great for that as well.

Wool socks. And for the love of all that is holy bring some seasonings. Salt and Pepper are great, but they even sell little seasoning bottles for backpacking that screw together. Trust me.

  • Buffy Supernatural Smallville The Arrowverse stuff

I dunno man. I just couldn’t get into the serialized urban fantasy pretty people vs monster of the week genre, even thought it feels like it should be right up my ally. I used to play a TON of V:tM and WW:tA, and Im all about camp and community theater energy. I liked some of the other Whedon stuff at the time, like Firefly. And I’m a life long fan of all things super heroes and I even respect Arrowverse from a far for its commitment to its status as a multimedia project (before the MCU, even).

More recently, some similarly themed shows have been made and I got into them way more; What We Do In The Shadows and Stan Against Evil, and I think maybe the magic sauce was that I would have liked the energy paired something less earnest and more tongue in cheek. All of these shows also had the issue of really annoying fandoms. Its probably the reason I couldn’t lower my hackles around Doctor Who.

  • All of these answers are super interesting and well thought out. Many of them line up with I would think, except for one thing. Hitler was no spring chicken during the war. He was 56 years old when he died, under the total crushing stress of leading a nation at war, and being pumped full of a truly fascinating cocktail of drugs by his personal physician. Depending on factors (mostly the war, which you dont specify in your prompt how they won), I don’t see him living much past 1945. And I don’t see the Reich lasting as a stable state much past that.

I feel like people are underestimating the extent to which Hitler set his subordinates against each other, so that none could accumulate enough power to challenge him. He would kill or sacrifice allies when it became convenient or expedient (remember the night of long knives?) and he avoided appointing a successor. Many speculative fiction works put Albert Speer in this role, but I think its more likely that the Nazi state descends into infighting, and different people fight for the top spot before Hitler is cold.
