Didn’t say if you own the home or not, but if so:
Mind it’s only hot for 2-4 months out of the year for me, so I have a winterized attic fan. Just means I’m not losing heat in the winter and paid a little more to buy it. You can just get a regular attic fan if it’s never or rarely cold where you live.
You leave windows open, but now there’s negative pressure from pushing air out the attic where a lot of the heat is trapped and sucking in air from outside even if there’s no breeze. I leave the attic access hole open when it’s running. The rare day I still use a Window A/C to sleep.
Where the fuck are we?
You’re pretty smart for a woman etc for those wooshed.
My interests changed which allowed a Linux distro to become a viable choice.
I unfortunately lost the friend group over time that played games online in my 30’s for all the typical mundane life reasons. Even then I was playing co-op almost always with them. I’m a lover, not a fighter. But the odd game here and there that had anti cheat in co-op prevented me from switching.
Online became hostile to art hobbyists not trying to make a living doing it chasing the algorithms. So, my YouTube channel died falling out of search results or algorithm entirely. The road block of limited creative software on Linux is gone for me since I’m not using any of that software anymore. I’ve gone entirely analog to express my creativity instead. Although I’m also aware this situation has been improving pretty quick so it’ll probably be irrelevant soon if it’s not already for some.
Almost everything else you and I could list just works fine, so I need not list it all.
I’m a bit annoyed about HDR support being slow as balls to develop by any DE so far, not that Windows implemented it well yet either. I also have unresolved issues with KDE dropping signal on televisions or video receivers…and Nvidia is still just plainly a shit experience. I had to use GNOME in the living room. Which works well anyways for a couch user. To use Linux without wanting to stab myself I just gave up and bought Radeon cards over time after wasting too many hours fighting bugs caused by Nvidia.
I’m of the opinion that to fully embrace Linux that must also mean being willing to spend money replacing (auxillary too) hardware that only works on Windows instead of trying to make it work on Linux to limited success or none at all.
I stopped dual booting in 2023 for a more specific date. I have two computers. Desktop and…HTPC maybe not accurate. It’s used as a desktop too, but with a focus on bigscreen UI elements or modes. I use it for everything, not just Stremio. Both had Nvidia cards, took awhile to justify replacing both and I didn’t want to be wasteful upgrading early. I managed to side-grade without losing any money thanks eBay Nvidia used card thirst this year. Nice.
I think we gotta find ways to talk to non-English speaking influencers in the lagging countries here.
Self described most intelligent species.
Maybe the rare few who actually drag this suicidal group-think and cowed species kicking and screaming into the future very seldomly. Yet the masses will take credit for their efforts the same way a billionaire takes credit for what the workers do simply because they own the fruits of their labor.
Had nightmares as a very young child and could dream visually back then. Only when dreaming. I have total Aphantasia, and no sense memory.
I lost the ability to dream visually in my teens, so I don’t think it was a trauma response. I even remember my last vivid dream. Roller Coaster Tycoon inspired, so I can’t say it was unpleasant. My inability to remember dreams at the time followed soon after.
I managed to lucid dream once in my 20’s and very briefly had a stunning visual dream when I concentrated quite hard and it was as if smacking an old CRT TV with faulty connections. The effort maintaining that woke me up pretty quick, but for a minute I was in between huge glacial ice walls in a row boat bobbing in mostly calm deep blue sea water with chunks of ice floating around and clear skies.
That’s it though for visual dreaming.
I can remember dreams now because I trained myself to by writing what I can remember down the minute a wake up. Over time I could remember for longer and longer after walking up. This would probably work for OP too if they were interested. Gotta stick to it though.
Psychedelics don’t give me any closed eyes hallucinations and I need some pretty absurd doses of others or DMT to even see anything slightly weird open eyes. One of my motivations was to see if I could “unlock” the ability. Didn’t work for me :(
That’s kinda how Killing Floor 2 got updates except Tripwire used a third party to manage making popular Workshop uploads official for years.
Like OP used to I use Signal Note to Self. It’s handy moving stuff from mobile to desktop and the reverse as well.
Joplin for long term stuff. Both are backed up to my NAS / password protected 7z archives to Cloud automated by said NAS.
I use PieFed. Filter lists are one feature and here I am commenting on user/moderator QoL feature anemic Lemmy. I see absolutely nothing about US politics unless the title doesn’t mention what I’ve blacklisted. Still cuts down on almost all of it except meme communities. I try to join meme communities not hosted on American centric instances instead.
A little bit is okay. I just don’t want US centric posts to be the majority of what I see as a Canadian. It’s not my country.
I use FreshRSS for news/international news and my mental health is better for it since I don’t look at it constantly like my forums addiction.
