For me, it was AIM chatrooms and ebaums forums, maybe the super early days of Skype (before being sold to Microsoft obviously). Shit did feel more real, and while content maybe didn’t come out at the same frequency, and there sure was shit, you just knew you were talking about it with other people. Made some good friends back then, would’ve been cool to stay in touch, but 20+ years is a long time.
My only gripe is I can never remember the number, and there are several teenths. I’m bad with dates. July 4th is idiot proof.

It’s probably bad parenting, but I tell my daughter that people who litter are bad people. I can probably put it better, but she’s young, simple is good, and so litterers=bad people. I honestly think that to essentially be true, because if you litter, you’ve essentially internally rationalized your entitlement to make your shit someone else’s problem. Right there with people who don’t put their carts back.
That being said, I do also say to her that sometimes the wind will carry trash from a receptacle, and that sometimes folks have difficulty ambulating, and so there are exceptions.

It’s chaos, but Jon Bois is amazing at putting order to even the most chaotic things. If you don’t know him, he’s purely a sports guy, but he has a number of video series on YouTube that are absolutely great watches, regardless of whether you like sports. I hate (American) football, but he has a number of videos I watched intently, because he does a great job of analyzing random number sets and plotting them out in a way that is visually appealing. Guy is a nut, and it makes for great television (obviously not TV but yeah).
What is it? I guess the distinction is between regrowth and regeneration. I’ll admit regrowth sounded great, because my four front teeth have been shaved down to posts for veneers because of an unfortunate incident with a hockey puck. Sounds like this isn’t for me.
Wow, I had definitely forgotten about briefcase. I remember clicking on it as a kid but don’t specifically recall what happened. There was no work computer for my folks, my mom worked at home (essentially), so I’m pretty sure it did nothing. I do remember being unsure of its function. I was young though so I was unsure about much.

I think I’m just saying that it’s okay to pay for a service when it gives you what you pay for. And if you don’t want to, that’s fine, and for much of my life I did that. I haven’t used either of the services you mentioned, but I think it’s safe to say setting them up is not as streamlined as just setting up a normal Spotify account would be. And beyond that, as Spotify pushes updates, these services presumably not to respond to those updates, but again, I don’t know, haven’t used them.
I also think it’s a bit beyond the discussion, and like I said, not a fair comparison. Tidal v. Spotify v. Apple Music are, I think, better discussions to have.
Yeah, those days are generally behind me. I want something that always works and I don’t mind paying for a functioning product. I don’t think comparing an actual service with ways of essentially stealing that service is a fair comparison, but I appreciate what you’re saying.
