  • I wish more places just dyed the fabric. I have some shirts that are 10+ years old and look exactly like the day I bought them and they all are graphic tees with the image dyed into the shirt itself. The ones I have with a plastic-y decoration on the front, even if I take all the special precautions that other posters mention in the thread, will inevitably crack and wear out over time.

My problem is I want to get a custom design printed, and a lot of places will advertise that they screen print, but if you go to their website and create a custom design you find that they either won’t do less than X number of shirts as a minimum order, or they will just vinyl print it anyway and send you that for $35 and it will fall apart almost instantly.

  • It’s possible. It happened frequently enough at IKEA that it became an internet meme/challenge and they had to start prosecuting people who did it.

The general store employees have a big “not my job” attitude about it. If it’s time to clock out, it’s your problem that you’re still in the store after closing. Not likely to confront you about it unless you are wandering the aisles.

Cleaning staff will probably tell someone if they find you hiding out.

Security guards will be actively looking for you and also search in obvious places like tents and sheds that are set up indoors, as well as behind shelving units, in the backrooms, etc.

  • r/place has had the soul sucked out of it past the first iteration. I’m not even going to bother checking it this year because I can see the future and I know what the canvas will end up being - bots maintaining flags. I’d be nice if they restricted it to accounts that are at least a year old, but at this point all the accounts people were botting with the last two years are qualified under that definition.

    Cool idea, consistently horrible implementation.

  • There were two heroes that were released as Xbox exclusive DLC back during the original release - Kit Fisto and Asajj Ventress. The mod added them into the PC version by reskinning Ki Adi Mundi and Ayla Secura respectively. The Aspyr release uses the reskinned versions from the mod rather than the official models from Pandemic/Lucasarts which they presumably had permission to use but chose not to despite the fact that the original models don’t have graphical errors and do have the correct fighting style/animations.

The only people who I’ve ever been happy to give stuff to are the ones who seem to be looking for free stuff, so now we just give stuff away.

I’ve had similar experiences. You ask for a price and then you get hagglers and lowballers tickling you with messages all day, asking a million questions, and then they vanish or ask for some totally unreasonable price when you were just hoping to offload something quickly for a lot less than what it would be worth brand new.

I once bought a bike from Target for about $100. It was a piece of shit, but at least it functioned. I rode it basically into the ground (broke the pedal right off off it) and I doubt I was going to be able to sell it for much considering the thing was $100 new, so I just offered it for free on Craigslist, mentioned it was not in good condition, and that I would hold it for whoever wanted it as long as they were on their way to get it. A lady responded within about 2 minutes, said she was one town over and driving to my place, and when she got there she offered to trade me a bottle of wine for it since she felt bad for just taking it for free (I didn’t ask for anything, but I accepted the trade). Genuinely the least stressful and most rewarding thing I’ve ever given away.
