  • I think this would be more effective on the fediverse too, bots are trying to engage as wide an audience as possible, which gives us a metric to monitor activity across the fediverse.

For example, a user might post an article to the news community on their preferred instances whereas a bot will unbiasedly post it on all instances it deems fit to share with.

This isn’t perfect but it’s another metric to help weight and quantify bot activity for an automated defense system. RSS feeds and the like can specifically flag their accounts as automated to avoid misbans from the system too

I mean yeah it’s one-shot land but I’d feel more comfortable in the Australian bush than in other territories, a lot of these creatures can be avoided with a little bit of knowledge and caution, but there’s no large predators

Most large creatures here can beat the shit out of you but they wouldn’t unless you threatened them.

In a similar boat, I guess I would be considered a pantheist by definition.

Staunch atheist growing up, asked myself a similar question. My religious views don’t necessarily change my view of how the world comes to be, or promises anything like eternal salvation; just an acknowledgement that all of this comes from something and by definition you could consider that something to be god.

Any extrapolations ontop of that would have to be considered faith or conjecture.

In fact I think most people would find it somewhat depressing to come to a similar conclusion initially, but the questions that come from this pondering have really helped me find a harmony with the universe and I’m appreciative of that

  • The best solution for privacy is to not use windows, seems like a good guide but even with all these modifications I would throw the computer in the dumpster and set it on fire before using it in any privacy sensitive or mission critical applications.

Linux runs fine these days, and with NTSync in the kernel and the work done on WINE and proton there really isn’t a need to use an operating system that abuses you and sells your data for profit.
