  • Yeah, there’s quite a few contradictions. Like they’re the ones encouraging everyone to start having kids. If people say they can’t afford it, conservatives tell them they will find a way. So if they can’t afford it and do, they’re bad patents. If they can’t afford it and don’t, they’re selfish.

Also we shouldn’t spend other people’s money on these people’s kids for lunches. But we can spend even more of that money putting them on the system? Like it would be cheaper to just give them a breakfast and lunch at school. So even looking at it from a libertarian tax is theft standpoint, it’s still spending money on the kids. But more.

BLM and Occipy aren’t organizations. There is a BLM organization. But that’s like if I created an organization called Feminism. That wouldn’t make Feminism an organization. That just means there’s an organization based on the movement.

Feel free to take a seat.

Even that’s a terrible view, politics aside.

    I slap someone.

I shank them with a rusty scrap of metal to the neck

One of these is obviously worse. Yes, both are violence. Yet to simply try and paint them as such would show you’re either not arguing in good faith, or, as respectfully as possible, your brain hasn’t fully developed.

But let’s mix it up. I slap someone. But I, a man that’s 6’2" and does physical labor, slapped an infant for crying. Seems a little worse than it did at first, huh?

I am being attacked by a random person who is trying to murder me, and in a panic, I grab something, and attack him with it. Turns out it was a rusty piece of metal. Now we have hints of self defense.

Once again, still violence, but both were to different degrees, and the context changed both of them.

I’m guessing that means this is also the dude who claimed people threw cement at him, when it was a milk shake.

Then they claimed the milkshake had cement in it, so people pointed out things like sugar would keep cement from hardening.

Then the cops said they had no reason to assume it was concrete, and no one suggested it was, despite them and the guy being the ones who said it was concrete.

  • If you go through the music of the era you like, there was slop there are well. Slop isn’t new. You just like some of the music that survived that time period.

Its like with literature. We have “the classics.” The range from a lot of different eras. And many of them are great, even if not for everyone. But then you go through sights like Project Gutenberg, where they are trying to make a digital copy of every book in the public domain, and you start to realize just how many books there were that no one talks about. And those are just ones that have survived.

If you want a great example of this with music: disco. Disco was essentially the pop of it’s time. It’s really where pop was born. Super popular for a short period of time. Lots of famous groups because of it.

How many can you name off the top of your head? How many do you think most people can name? Probably not many. Because a lot of it might have been good, but it was really that good.

I listen to metal. But I didn’t get into it until my junior year of high school. So about 2006-2007. Before that I knew Metallica. I knew Black Sabbath. Things like that, but I never got into the genre until that point. I also realize that I only habe listened to a very small fraction of the bands from that era, because more of it is just buried and forgotten about.

We can take this a step further. I probably wouldn’t be able to list 1/5th of the bands I listened to in the 2010s. A lot of those bands I might think about from time to time, but many of them that I actually enjoyed I’ll probably remember. They were good, but didn’t have much staying power. They weren’t exceptional. They didn’t influence anything. But I still enjoyed listening to them.

This is a shortened version to say that while I’m sure it’s great to cum to your superior taste, music has had slop for a long time, and you’re not better for not enjoying it. You’re just boring.

  • It’s less that there’s not a demand so much as supply and demand work together. Not appart. When it comes to accounting, there are different ways to look at different things. The main one is financial accounting. Another one is taxes.

In the case of this: managerial accounting. Something that a lot of corporations seem to be failing at lately. Managerial accounting is basically finding information to report to the managers. For instance, breaking down the cost of an item to see how much it costs to produce, comparing it to how much it makes, etc.

One thing they do is figuring out how much to raise the cost of a good/service. It’s a slight gamble in that you can never be 100% sure, but they try to find that sweet spot where they can raise it without scaring away too many people and eventually losing money. In this case, they charge too much. The cost of flying, like everything else, has gone up. And we get worse service while there. So if you’re raising the cost of the different services, and you find that people are now only going with the cheaper option, you have likely started over charging. You need to drop the price of both services.

For instance, I might be willing to spend an extra $50 for an upgrade. But if you raise the price of the cheap service by $100, now I don’t have the money. Make the gap between the two $100, and now I really don’t have enough.

Of course, when every company made it a race to riase proces as much as possible, at this point I don’t think many companies have much of a choice. They all kind of fucked everything all at once, including themselves. But they made a profit in the short term, so there’s that.

  • Same. I think the only time I’ve ever done ng+ is for souls games. But I’m not gonna support this. A few years back I really came to terms with the fact that I’m never gonna play all the games I want to, and it’s OK if some of them slip through the cracks. Now I don’t regret skipping out on a lot of games. Like I would love another old school Assassins Creed. I’m not getting anytbing from Ubisoft. Part of me wanted to give in for that. Then I saw shit about ads on the loading screen, and said nope.

EA. Finally coming out with a new Skate. I still gave copies of the first 3. I would buy a new one after years of wanting it. But it’s EA and Session exists. So I’m good. I’m not even gonna download their free game.

  • I honestly question if it even still has the same amount of traffic. Like it was no secret that site had bots. It’s been a thing for awhile. But it’s only gotten worse. I get on once in awhile for one particular niche sub. But I had to stop browsing the rest.

For awhile, subs about pop culture and celebrities started getting to /all, but it’s posts like “What’s you favorite sitcom moment?!” AITA became even more popular, but the stories feel even more fake and formulaic. Before there were times when the top comments were bots commenting on the repost bots post. Now it’s not uncommon for people to point it out. The repost bot posts, the other bot steals the top comments and post those.

It’s also become even more right wing in a lot of places. So depending on your political leanings, that can be a turn off for some.

Either way, the site really has gone downhill.

  • I would say depending on the purpose, you can get some cheaper stuff. Like I’m not gonna expect people at a college party to make rum and cokes with the nice stuff. And they’re just shooting back tequila for fun.

But I also still wouldn’t get bottom shelf. Its still worth avoiding that. I worked at an Albertsons liquor store back in about 2010. You could get a handle of Albertsons brand liquor for $10. Was always tempted to get some just to see how bad it is, but could never force myself to do it.

  • That’s what I keep thinking about. Like sometimes I would love an older, smaller styled truck. It could be really useful, but it sucks they aren’t really an option anymore.

But then I think about it, and how often would I use it? I just bought a TV and had to have it delivered because it wouldn’t fit in our car. We recently moved, and it would have been great.

But other than that, I honestly can’t think of any time recently I’ve needed it.
