  • For a long time, Germany treated any mention of nazis or depictions of swastikas as basically infohazards, scp style. You can’t become the fascist if you don’t know what a fascist is, or so the thinking went. Imo a lot of what was really happening was German guilt and attempting to hide history from their youth.

  • Maybe I’m biased because I’m a welder, but it always made more sense to me that electricity flows from the negative. Like , if the positive moved, wouldn’t you change the element of the wire after a while? It also helps that you can tell the difference if an arc is positive or negative relative to the stinger depending on how the metal reacts, at least to a welder. I know that doesn’t make any sense at all but it does to another welder lol

  • The bigger difference imo is the brain development due to hormones in the womb. Old TLC program had a whole section on this suggesting it’s why STEM fields are generally male dominated. Turns out hormones that determine biological gender also very much effect the development of the brain, and the male chemicals tend to develop the spatial reasoning part of the brain faster/more thoroughly than those who get don’t get the male chemicals and stay female. This average higher spatial reasoning capacity creates an advantage in tasks or objectives where complex visualizations are necessary, like visualizing chess moves in your head.

It’s not some massive, overwhelming difference, but it’s enough to tilt the table. Play out that average enough and you have 42 women out of 2500 chess grandmasters

  • To be fair, Morrowind is just that kind of game. It’s been many years since I’ve played it, but I remember it being one of the last truly open world experiences I got from playing games. The plot drops you off in the first city and kind of just let’s you go at it. I remember hours of just wandering until I ended up at the city of vivec, which is the mess of floating pyramid temple lookin jobbies out on a lake somewhere. I didn’t know shit about anything but it was awesome and that was enough for me. Elden Ring almost brings this feeling back sometimes.

  • I will agree the crafting system is incredibly unintuitive even before you get into the more obscure aspects like helminth or archon shards, but there is some story if you really want to dig for it. Honestly I was pretty firmly a casual player until I got to the chains of harrow and from there I was hooked. It’s not a constant thing for me, but a couple months out of the year I like to check back in and see what’s new. The movement and combat are big sellers for me though. I find myself reverting to/wanting the warframe movement system in pretty much every other game I play after lol
