As I recall, “everyone believed” was really more like “a small number of conspiracy theorists with too much time on their hands and no real evidence believed”

Why silence instead of literature? Why silence instead of philosophy? Why silence instead of learning new languages? While silence instead of studying an instrument?
No one is going to force you to enjoy your life; you have to take some responsibility for creating your own meaning.

I honestly don’t know what kind of computer it was. It was something my dad brought home from work when they were going to throw it out, so it was old even when I had it in the early 90s. It ran DOS, had a 5 1/4 inch floppy drive, and a lovely orange monochrome monitor. I used it to write my little stories and play crappy console games. Good times.
Maybe I just have a shitty computer, but I feel like as good as intelliJ is, it’s very slow compared to VScode. And fuck me if I’m trying to do anything in Android Studio.
By 2015 it was already a hollow shell of what it had once been, and by 2020 it was spiritually completely dead. Now it’s just shocking how far it’s continued to decline, far past what I’d come to think of as rock bottom

That’s wild. I couldn’t imagine having to write documents using only a touchscreen, or having to switch back and forth between PDF and web browser and text editor instead of just putting the windows side by side.
I got banned for daring to report violent content. Apparently reporting death threats is ‘targeted harassment’ of the moderators now

Let’s be honest, reddit has been going downhill since at least 2014. It still exists, and will continue to, but it’s such a hollow shell of what it once was.
Reddit loves violent content, provided it has a strongly homophobic, misogynistic, theistic, or otherwise conservative element. If course, if you make the mistake of reporting violent content, then it’s up to the individual moderators of the sub posting that content to decide whether the content is actually violent (according to their own standards), or whether you’re actually just “harassing” them by reporting it.
