  • I agree. People should raise their standards… the message is if you’re switching to Linux, shouldn’t be “just be glad to have a distribution that just works.” I think we’ll need a better sales pitch if that’s the case.

I had no issues with Zorin from a “it just works” perspective and I run an NVidia GPU. And, it also looks good. Like Mint, it’s also based on Ubuntu, but without the Windows XP era UI.

Also, the UI can either be in “has a start menu” or “has a Mac dock” mode.

I’m always shocked by all the recommendations to use Mint. It feels dated and ugly. Admittedly, I migrated from Mac, but how abused must you Windows users be to find Mint a suitable replacement? I personally wound up with Zorin OS and recommend it. The software store makes installing apps from multiple sources tolerable. It’s also got a nice UI and you can easily change it.

  • My option is that god isn’t all knowing and all powerful as a single being, but that the best approximation of the word god is that it is being itself. There is no end to it. It’s simply the process by which all possible permutations of existence are briefly manifest over eternity. Maybe there are components of being that have moral tendencies, but is being itself moral?

  • I feel the same. The atmosphere is decidedly less doom-like in my view and I’m a little skeptical of these new gameplay mechanics. Riding flying dragons? I’m also not a fan of the way Marty Stratton handled the situation with Mick Gordon, which has damped my goodwill for the studio. I bought Doom 2016 and Doom Eternal on launch. I will not buy this game until it is bargain bin prices.

  • I tend to agree with this. The main thing this does is takes away the profit from criminal gangs. Of course, when people make drugs illegal they don’t realize they are making criminal gangs rich. But, that is the result. Instead, people are thinking of the tweakers and homeless all over the streets, or their loved one who OD’d. And, truthfully, there likely are certain drugs that can never be used responsibly (opioids, meth). For those, society needs to find a way to manage it. Maybe give away the drugs for free in certain supervised spaces. And, forcibly treat people who are high in public. 8 years in prison for anyone that gives drugs to a minor. But, legalize the drugs so murderers aren’t the ones manufacturing and selling them.
