The average uplifting story is only effective on people who are mostly doing OK mentally. Those types of people might see a depressing story and wonder why anyone would ever want to consume something so dark and depressing.

Someone who is depressed will not be able to relate to a typical uplifting story, it will seem unrealistic and naive. A depressing story is meeting them on their level. They will see that someone else understands how they feel and will feel less alone. A depressing story has a chance of affecting a depressed person a giving them hope in a way a regular story does not.

That is my interpretation of the comic.

Yes, over analyzing every little detail and finding flaws in logic is a great way of completely missing the point the author is trying to get across. Your analysis of this comic comes across as borderline satire. There is absolutely no need to examine the physical logic of the comic past the point of “the balloons are metaphors for stories”. There are plenty of ways to analyze and critique the comic, such as examining how well the balloons function as a metaphor, but trying to figure out the internal logic of the world is missing the point completely.

Do you have any comments/suggestions on picking one of those distros? I can do my own research so no pressure.

People are being harassed and doxed by a group of people that have turned one of their most popular games into a fucking cesspool. They need to either throw in the towel and drop support for TF2 or wage war on these losers.

Hire a dedicated team, involve the police, I don’t fucking know. The current state of TF2 is an absolute disgrace, it’s fucking pathetic.

The fact that they’re letting this shit happen to one of their own communities is extremely disappointing. They should take it personally that a group of people are using their game as a tool to harass people, but they don’t give a fuck.

I have lost so much respect for Valve over their handling of TF2. I’ve gone from a fanboy to a hater.

Because as a fan I’m contractually obligated to consume and enjoy all related content, rave about it online, and buy $100 worth plastic waste a year.

$60 CAD and sales do not justify the base price. Nothing you’ve said has remotely convinced me any of their DLC is worth what they’re charging.

Just because you’re able to spend $60 on 3 DLCs instead of whatever the 62 DLCs cost, doesn’t mean those DLC are worth what you’re spending. I can buy a single banana instead of the full bunch if I want but if they cost $10 each I’m not getting a good deal.

The fomo is because I’ve already invested in the base game. I can ignore content about games I haven’t bought yet but if I want to watch tutorial videos that have every DLC I have to filter out all the content I haven’t paid for. I can’t engage with the community on equal footing unless I spent 4-5x the price of the base game on overpriced content. That is not an enjoyable experience and has left me with a bad taste in my mouth when it comes to Paradox games. I don’t want to navigate the cesspool that is their monetization strategy so I simply don’t buy their games (I pirate them :^) ).

For $500 I would bloody well hope so.

CK2 dlc was mid as fuck. Every single one adds a few features at most that don’t meaningfully change anything, just enhance things slightly. Some changes are borderline QOL but all of them leaving you with fomo when you watch streamers. It’s always been bullshit and predatory.

They sell you 15 minor features for $10 each and then every tutorial/gameplay video you watch has 5-10 features you’ve never seen before. It fills you with fomo and when you do cave you end up spending $80 to make a $40 game slightly more interesting. It’s predatory as fuck, paradox can go fuck themselves.

What a waste just to save a couple mins.

I live in Vancouver, easily top 10 city, probably top 5. And yeah you’re right, I do know two people who advocate, my aunt and uncle. No one else I know is even remotely passionate about urbanization efforts. Lots of people I know use public transit, but they don’t view it as something that can be relied on as their main form of transportation. Yes, the fact that our public transit is not nearly as good as it could be is a huge part of it, but the point remains that most people do not feel strongly about improving it.

I’m sure my privilege has kept me in a bit of a bubble but there are seriously very few people who feel strongly about public transit and cycling infrastructure. Even my less privileged friends are hardly advocates for better infrastructure and the people I’ve met through sports leagues all drive, I’m literally the only person I know who rides a bike everywhere they go. I used to frequent a local news website and any article that mentioned road diets or public transportation became toxic battlefields between pro and anti car folks.

There is absolutely a significant group of advocates in the city, but I really feel like you’re misjudging the percentage of people who support urbanization efforts.

I get that, but a significant portion of people fight tool and nail against any and all attempts to reduce car dependency in cities.

Nah dude cars are loud. Sitting at a roadside patio is shitty even if it’s just a few cars a minute.

I live in a city with solid public transportation and bike infrastructure, easily top 10 in North America. Almost everyone I know takes public transit only when it’s convenient (ie they want to drink) but otherwise drives everywhere. I don’t know a single person who advocates for more public transportation or bike infrastructure.
