CO2 saturators are cheap. I love carbonated water and all I buy is a gas bottle fill every two months or so for 15 euro, on top of that I don’t need to carry any heavy bottles upstairs.
Tap water here has a lot of calcium in it. Good for drinking but without filtering it would destroy my espresso machine in a month.

Back in mid 00s I created a forum for fellow classmates to share notes, info on exams and whatever. It was active for a year or a bit more, then someone set up a Facebook page for our group and the forum died in about a month. I could not understand why people migrated so quickly, Facebook group was atrocious when it comes to search functions, any files, notes or anything you didn’t download immediatelly were lost to time never to be seen again. If the forum is still up I’m sure I’d still be able to easily download exam schedules and all notes from all the classes there, with Facebook it was a pain even a week after someone posted. There is something fundamentally wrong with society if an inferior product can sweep the board so easily. People do not care about quality or usefulness of anything, all that matters is marketing and trends.

I don’t read much, probably still more than most people but that is still only 3 or 4 books a year so I just buy my books and after a couple years when im sure I won’t be reading them again I donate them to libraries. Libraries are a marvelous invention, I love those places even though I almost never use them. Just imagine how controversial they would be if they never existed and someone had the idea of them now. A bistro chain near me implemented that app. They offer mixed bags of whatever is left an hour before they close. Sound good but there is a question we should ask a lot more: does this need to be an app? Couldn’t they just discount everything in the last hour? Literally a piece of paper on a door “19:00 - 20:00, - 50%” would do exactly the same. Is it a sign of getting old if I hate unnecessary use of technology?
I don’t think it would, tourism contributes only around 8% (first search result i found) of income in the city (Kraków) but drives locals out of city centre and drives house prices to the moon. I haven’t been in any pub in city centre for years now. Back in 2020 when tourism was halted rents went down a lot and the centre was full of locals who suddenly didn’t feel like guests in their own city. Back then I moved from renting a room in a shared flat to renting a 2 room apartment, closer to the city centre by myself and I didn’t pay more at all. It didn’t last long though.
Try to choose less traveled destinations. I live in a touristy city and I would be really happy if the number of tourists dropped by 80%.
Storing valuable information on paper is a good idea, I have always done that anyway. I’m not buying dvds and cds though, lowering consumption of media never hurt anyone. I don’t need to watch all those Netflix shows and I don’t need to listen to music.
Tried that. 150e sunglasses were great until I lost them somewhere a month or two later :) I’m more of a bog monster rather than fashion concious guy, my mind doesn’t like keeping the data on accessories. When it stops raining i put an umbrella anywhere and forget about its existence, the same with sunglasses when a cloud covers the sun for 5 minutes.

What I break the most often is a connection between them and me. Meaning that I forget them somewhere or simply drop them without noticing.
I break them in whatever fashion you can imagine because I forget I have them with me and sit on them, i throw them in my backpack and then smash them with 6 pack of milk, I put them in a pocket with keys and they scratch. Most of the time I just leave them somewhere because I forget about them. Idk what could be cheaper than buying them cheap.
I remember when our universities were innovating by welding two Żuk mini busses together and putting them on rails to revolutionise rail travel. Times have changed indeed.

I’m not a fan of GDP as any measure of anything. Buying a piece of sausage from a supermarket through a chain of middle men, industrial meat processing companies, slaughterhauses and livestock traders generates many times more GDP than buying the same sausage from a neighbouring farmer even though there is absolutely no added value. I am convinced that GDP measures mostly how bizantine are chains of production and trade networks and how many corporate middle men extract money from workers between production and consumption of anything.
