  • Younger me was really depressed, like clinically and so caught up in himself that I think he’d hear me, but not actually listen to what I’d have to say. And I don’t totally blame him, he was very confused and hadn’t really figured himself out yet.

I think he’d be surprised but also unhappy with the direction of my life… But he’d be unhappy no matter what since he still hadn’t figured out how to beat his depression and make his own happiness.

Plus he’s not only stubborn but also secretly a bit arrogant and needs to fall on his face a lot to learn lessons. His failures will be his greatest teachers. The fact that he even can fail will be very hard to accept but very needed as well.

So overall, I don’t expect his reaction would be great. But I also can’t see myself wanting to give him any advice nor do I really care what he would think… Actually I would tell him to lift with his knees and not his back more, properly show him how to do it too.

  • It’s genuinely baffling watching WB just make like, every wrong decision. Their business is losing money and every time a project that receives praise or interest is announced/released that is nearly guaranteed to make them lots of money. They just don’t go through with it. Or they do some work on it then can it.

It’s like, even out of touch executives at other large companies have enough feelers to find out generally what people are enjoying. Then with all their money they throw something in that general direction and something eventually sticks.

With WB though it’s like, nothing is working. The things that do stick don’t make as much as they thought. And the things that they don’t think will make money do make money, often more than they thought… And then they just always find a way to either piss off everyone, sour and sabotage the future projects, or just don’t do anything with it.

It’s just so fucking weird. Like I don’t even enjoy or partake in most of the stuff WB puts out. But sitting on the sidelines and just watching it all unfold makes me question what drugs the leaders at the company are on…

  • Wow, that’s very rude how you came off and dismissive as well. I think you came into this just wanting to find something to argue about based on your tone here.

To the point though. They do support the idea put forward that the person could have been pushed out. Now whether that be from jealousy, ego, office politics no one knows for certain except them. But it IS a common issue in the games industry and my entire point was that it’s not that outlandish to assume it as a possibility.

The sources I provided paint a clear picture that over 50% of writers in the games industry are subject to or have seen work place Harrassment and bullying (that’s a shockingly high amount). Followed by an actual ex-bioware employee talking about how there was resentment towards the writers in the company.

The final source involves an interview with another bioware employee that brings up how there is a ““black-ball style environment,” where dissenting viewpoints are reportedly squashed and punished.” and how people in higher positions of the company prioritize a certain agenda and make moves to dissuade dissenting opinions of those agendas.

As well for that final source I have to say your reaction to it is childish and rude. How does it suck exactly? Please elaborate. You don’t get to just throw away a source I provide just cause you don’t like them. There were other games journalists sites covering that interview as well so if you don’t like that one then go find it on another site. If your issue is with the actual interview itself then articulate that and express why you dislike it.

Finally the issue I take most with your comment is your final paragraph. What is up with that? You make it sound like you’re either in the industry or that your opinion is better than everyone else’s, it’s insufferable.

You act like the idea of pushing someone out of a job in a creative industry is some fantasy land level plot. When in reality it is far too common in most creative driven industries and even in non-creative driven ones. It’s a common enough practice to be given a euphemism that we understand and know to be a potential part of office politics.

As well from sources provided, we can see that to not consider it is to skip over a logical through line where we even see this has happened previously in this same studio from a current and ex-employee where they outline the hallmarks of such type of treatment in an industry known for having high levels of co-worker Harrassment and work place bullying.

Explain your reasonings and back up your claims. So far the only thing you’ve provided in terms of a dissenting view point is the equivalent of “nuh-uh you’re stupid for thinking that” whilst you then philosophically wax with some weirdly placed smuggness over how much better you think you are than the common person. It reads like a mid-2000’s cringe r/atheist reddit comment

  • Mercy from Overwatch is a perfect example of why pure healers don’t work too well in shooters. She is consistently throughout the games lifespan either been too overtuned or too undertuned. It is very difficult to find that balanced spot for pure healers.

They either end up too powerful and require constant tagging by the opponents team which is frustrating both for the healer player and the opponent team. Or they become almost mandatory for a team too win even in a casual setting, which is incredibly unfun for both teams.

In the case of being undertuned though, if they’re not powerful enough then no one picks them as it is just not as fun or engaging to play as a pure healer.

Or finally in the case of medic from tf2. They become a fairly predictable 1 trick pony, low reward class.

Overall pure healers in shooters just really don’t work well for the medium/genre. I love being a support player myself in games. But I loathe seeing pure healers in shooters. It’s nearly always just a source of frustration rather than fun

  • I recently got hit with the seasonal flu like a month ago that was going around and stubbornly didn’t go to a doctor. Ended up with a fever of ~105 on average and peaked at like 106 while still having chills as well.

There was a period of 3 days where it was the worst and I have no idea what happened during that time except scant bits of random memories of drinking water and passing out on the couch covered in blankets. The fever dreams you mentioned is definitely on point to what I experienced as well. Was never sure if I was really awake or dreaming with my eyes closed. Which like… I’m not sure how to phrase that in a way that makes sense or differentiate from regular dreaming cause reading it right now just sounds dumb

Time made no sense during that whole period and still doesn’t. It’s like my body, even two weeks later, still hasn’t registered that I existed for those days. Very surreal in a bad way, do not recommend

  • Parts of 2018 and Ragnarok and the ending of both actually had me tear up a bit, not many games accomplish that. It was very heartfelt and emotional I enjoyed seeing a proper character arc for Kratos and his kid and watching them develop.

I also really liked the themes of redemption and trying to be better not just for yourself, but for the people around you, I liked that Kratos has to reflect on his actions and actually come to terms with how he was for all intents and purposes, a monster.

I liked that even enemies where made more complex and given good character arcs. 2018 and Ragnarok are so well done and I love them. The old GoW trilogy was also fun and had good writing in it’s own merit and direction, but the new games are something else entirely in a good way and I vastly prefer the character and relationship focused writing in the newer games.

  • The only reason people get worked up over pineapple on pizza is because there are extremely few places that do it correctly. Most just open a can of frozen chunked pineapples, plop it on and hope for the best. It makes the dish disgusting. Also doesn’t help that certain areas of the world prepare the rest of the pie in a completely different manner resulting in very different flavor and texture experiences. A Chicago style with pineapple would be very different from new york style with pineapple.

I’ve also had properly made pineapple pizza before and subjectively speaking, it was just ok at best. Not anything to rave about or get up in arms about, honestly pineapple has more than just sweet in it’s flavor so it still tastes off and doesn’t vibe well with the rest of the ingredients like your other examples do. Only a select few people will like it. Probably the same reason most fruits aren’t used with pizza like strawberries or cantaloupe.

Combine both those things together though and you get a recipe for a controversial dish.

  • I cant tell if people in this thread are trolls, ultra elite linux shills, or just people incapable of following simple instructions…

Like I get it, windows bad or w/e… But to act like it takes longer than an hour or two to install it, let alone 2 whole fucking days is just asinine.

Imagine having enough of a skill issue that it takes you 2 days to install Windows OS. The OS that idiot proofs itself by literally holding your hand on every option and walks you through itself to install.

Im not even joking, I re-install and have installed windows the past few years multiple times on personal devices for myself and my family and friends and even do it for professional devices and servers for my job. It is brain dead easy, enough that my tech illiterate grandparents managed to re-install it before I could make the drive to meet them and do it for them… I can’t take this OP or anyone else seriously if they can manage to install a linux based OS but somehow have 2 days worth of trouble with Windows OS…
