It’s good that OP means well, but also there are so many of us who do not care and are not affected because we know the speaker is using a generalized term and isn’t (usually) being malicious with it. I call several of my cisgender girl friends “dude” and “bro” and I’ll call men “girl” as a joke sometimes (like, girl what are you doing?). Many of these terms simply have completely lost their original gendered meaning in a lot of contexts.
I’m AFAB enby, saying “you guys” and calling me “dude” is fine. Those to me aren’t gendered anymore. The people who get offended at general terms like these for groups of people need to touch grass.
But if you’re dead set on it, embrace y’all lol. Just don’t say it with a southern drawl and you’ll be fine. It’s a fantastic gender neutral term. You can also just train yourself not to add in the “you guys” to the “what’s up” phrase, and maybe just say “what’s up with you?” “What’s up with you all?” Etc.
Yeah in the past it was fine but now it’s unusable bc they absolutely want you to download their dumb app. No thank you.
I uninstalled the app bc it just didn’t have enough accessibility features and sucked in general. It doesn’t even hold a candle to what Apollo was (RIP). The mobile site being dogshit is by design. You can’t even post pictures on it, I had to request the desktop site in order to post pics, and I wasn’t on a sub that bans photo posts. You also can’t access the chat on it really. It makes everything as difficult as possible to get you to use the app. They want all that data they can collect from you from the app.
So that’s why I uninstalled and now barely get on Reddit at all. They went from getting my traffic + my ad revenue to nothing bc they refuse to make their mobile site useable, and I use adblockers on desktop. They get nothing from me now (except of course free shit to train their Ai with)
How would I go about doing that? I’d like to wipe my shit from over there before I outright delete my account.
Most places use this sort of software (at least, larger companies). I have worked with doctors who refused to use it and instead developed templates for common items they copied + pasted into the MAR software / PACS, etc., and they just type what they need. That’s what they did before dictation software existed anyway. It’s not as efficient, but it’s basically the only way to avoid this.
This isn’t new, my last apartment did this. Their internet was mediocre at best, and I couldn’t afford to just do my own AND pay for the forced upon me internet.
So many of my fave artists already left for Bluesky or they also post on tumblr. The reason to have an actual twitter account keeps dwindling by the day.
