One of the simplest ways to safeguard against breakage is to have your /home on a separate partition. I realised I wouldn’t need to backup and reformat it from the beginning, I just need to wipe the root drive and reinstall again.

It’s made even easier by writing an installation script. Simply put, you can pipe a list of packages into packstrap and use a little convenience package for pulling a partition scheme out of a file.

I like to tinker and I’m aware that things will break so I have these tools that let me rebuild the system again in as short a time as possible.

The aspect that’s getting lost in all this is that the curator has basically put up a hit list of games for people to review bomb just for associating with a company. The curator has no evidence on the level of involvement SBI had with the game but they don’t recommend the game based on them being involved at all.

They have taken something small and weaponised it so now it’s harming game devs. No one has any evidence on how SBI were involved with any of the games they’ve listed on their website beyond vague mentions of “narrative” or “character development”.

The worst part is, I’m not even surprised by this.

Wayland isn’t trying to be X12 and since X11 has been around, there haven’t been plans for there to be an X12 either. You want to discourage people from using Wayland but don’t encourage people to contribute to X11. I understand your point though. It’s weird that people who use iPhones have this mentality that iPhones are at the forefront of innovation. I know some people who are aware that Apple is behind but the phone does what they require of it so they have no need to ask more.

I don’t think that’s true. Android has had more features than Apple for over a decade. People forget that iPhones didn’t used to have a proper file manager and the only way to put songs on them was through iTunes. iOS has been trailing behind Android in that respect while maintaining their walled garden.

Netflix is full of reptiles who don’t care to offer a better service. All they want is enough market share to strongarm consumers into giving them more money.

I felt this with one of the laptops I put KDE Neon on. It had all manner of issues that never got a resolution.

This game has such good feedback from the shooting. Very meaty and satisfying. Movement could be smoother but overall, it’s a fun game.

I’m interested to see a Fediverse implementation of a YouTube alternative. Being able to link a Microblog on Kbin to a Mastodon post and a Community post on a YT alt would be HUGE.
