If this problem is caused by unreasonably long hours doing unreasonably hard work with no paid vacation, as the article suggests, all of the “trying to solve this” bullshit coming out of employers’ PR departments isn’t going to do anything near as much as shorter hours, paid time off, more staff, longer project timelines, and job protections.

Meh, that’s me. I don’t so much protest gentrification as much as I want to work to ensure my neighbors can continue to live here and reap the benefits themselves as the neighborhood improves. You can’t convince me that the people who have lived here for decades want to live in neglected, under-developed, under-supported, neighborhoods. They just don’t want to be forced out as change happens.

The joke is mocking men who objectify women for their bodies and don’t treat them as actual human beings. Once women have shown their tits and brought a sandwich, these men would be glad if women cease to exist.

If someone asks me for “a few” I’ll give them three or four. If someone asks for “multiple” I’ll give them a handful and ask if that’s enough.

I don’t know where in the world this theory is coming from, but here, two would be “a couple” and three+ would be “a few.” Not that “a pair” (never just pair) and multiple aren’t used in other contexts, but you wouldn’t use pair and multiple in the same context. A pair is specific, multiple is an estimate.

My kid fell for this. They promise you’ll get paid while you learn. What they don’t tell you is that IF you manage to pass the entrance exam (he did) you get put on a list for open apprenticeship positions, waiting to be called in at any moment. While you’re on that list you don’t get paid. If you do get a spot, contracts only last a couple of months. Then you go back on the list. Rinse and repeat. And the longer you’ve been in the union the higher up you get placed on the list. So the older members get placed before the newer ones no matter what number they were in line. This “join a trade” push is similar to the charter school scam, siphoning up state and federal training funds without delivering results.

The article says it was “fat and lean mass” not water weight. And while the “lean mass” (which I guess could be water) retuned after eating again, the “fat mass” did not.
