I’m trying to learn rust and so far this has definitely made it so much more accessible.
Not to mention their super useful “rustlings” training which has these nice little challenges to get you used to language and syntax
I’m also not a fan of MS spyware.
But in defence of the MS authenticator, the 2FA prompts it sends are very convenient, how they pop up and ask for the number displayed on screen, its definitely more secure than just the one time code.
Plus it also shows what phone the user is using when they install and configure the authenticator app, this is also very useful if you suddenly see the user accessing their mail or one drive from another mobile device.
152·2 months agoHow are acts such as this not treated the same as though one person had decided to do this to 5 people? What’s the point of a CEO or Director if not to step in at times like this and do the right thing? And if they don’t, they face the consequences.
I understand its all legal BS that negates the responsibility, but it just doesn’t seem logical regardless of how its framed.

5·4 months agoI’m an idiot so excuse me if this is just way too simple. If you’re able to remove DRM and get the file, is it not just possible to copy the content out of the file and make a brand new file?
I know I’m probably over simplifying things but I know if I’m paranoid about stuff like exif data in an image, if I’m in a pinch I’ll just screenshot the original image instead.

7·7 months agoThis reminds me of something I’d heard about public transport operated by local governments, not sure how true it is but the theory makes sense. But basically the local public transport company ran by the local government, spends more on the infrastructure and enforcement of people paying fares than they get back in the fares themselves and that operating the services free of charge would actually reduce the cost of running the service.
Which when you start to think about how you need officers to spot check people on public transport, roll out the machines for tickets/smart cards, server infrastructure to run the machines, technicians to service the machines, IT staff to run servers etc etc it does somewhat make sense
And they don’t update the infrastructure, UK is also an excellent example of this and they are getting to the point that the government will have to step in to help them sort things out. All this so that a bunch of rich people are richer.
Who made this comic and why is it so poorly cropped?
Some real digital history record keeping there! This stuff is so cool and is something we never considered with all those random memory cards we gave away and sold.
I’m so jealous.
