Look, I was a life long PlayStation kid from ps1 to the end of ps3. There is no reason in 2024 why anyone should be considering a PS or a Xbox or a Nintendo in a world where the steam deck exist. It blows traditional consoles right out of the water into the stratosphere.
The real question is if he’s smoking a cig or a joint
Am I the only one kind of relieved when I loose digital files in a drive failure? Its kind of like a chance to start fresh. Yes I liked having pictures of my dead pets and relatives from 10 years ago but I wasn’t going to ever look at them again. I have my memories and that’s enough. Yes I liked having a copy of all the shows I ever enjoyed but I lost interest in half of them over the years and was likely never going to rewatch them locally or not.
There’s a time and a place for all things, digital files are no exception. When the time has passed long ago and the place no longer exist as it once did, its time to let go
If you express pi in binary you can narrow it down to just two!
How the hell is bluey so universally liked by kids tho what is the illusive secret sauce to it that the kids can’t resist watching it
No way not toriyama. 2020s has been hard on og manga artist.
I loved adult swim flash games in the 2000s would have definitely cared about this a lot more if flash wasn’t already dead and they weren’t preserved on internet archive and flashpoint
The idea that simple rules lead to incredibly complex behavior is not new and wolfram was not the first mathematician to realize it even if he wants to pretend he is.
I’m big into fractal geometry so I would say Mandelbrot was the first 20th century mathematician to really get that concept along side the founding chaos theorist but even their realizations about the fractal nature of the universe ride off shoulders of others work.
I guess for computational mathematicians, the fractal nature of the universe and the simple rules making complex systems is new and mind blowing, for me and everyone whos read through deep simplicity its old ideas recycled into a new branch of mathematics reworded in terms a computer scientist thinks in.
Its not that the ideas aren’t important or mind blowing, they just aren’t new and the academic community has had decades to digest them.
And before the academic community came along many eastern religions came to similar concluions about the nature of the universe a couple thousand years earlier thanks to some good old fashioned shrooms and pot, so these general ideas have also been floating around forever and academics weren’t even the first to suggest them only the first to kind of prove them right with logic and experimental evidence.
Have you taken a look at c/politicalmemes ?If a humorless poorly constructed wall of doomerism text lamenting the flaws of modern capitalist society counts as a meme, just about anything does these days
Dont you get it? Every year is the year of linux.
The bigger issue for me is every device advertised to be linux based and privacy oriented is >400$ usually around 700-800$
I understand that tech savy IT people are usually financially cushy enough that they can eat a almost thousand dollar bill on their laptop and not think twice about it but man I just can’t ever see myself willing to shell out that much cash for a fancy laptop with physical kill switches or modularbility. Bring that price tag down a couple hundred dollars system 76 and Purism, then well talk. Until then the dude on ebay selling librebooted ghostpads are more likely to get my money.
If all computers are on local network you can use warpinator.
Koreader has a plugin to sync with calibre local server and its a REALLY good ereader software
If it can produce half a watt it can power a pi zero type SBC
Thats the thing about saying an opinion on the internet, its tied to you forever. In real life people tend to change their minds and can re-evaluate on their own shitty opinions after a few decades. Not always, but it happens. But that doesn’t change the fact you said that thing that one time 20 years ago. The people who don’t really care about you and just want a mental straw man to hate don’t care about things like personal growth or that you have changed stance, just that you thought that bad thing at one time.
Im personally guilty of saying some real edgelord shit as a teenager on the internet. If someone somehow collected a few comments I made when I was 15 and went on a 5 paragraph essay about how terrible of a person I am now it would make me roll my eyes and tell them to get bent. Who I was as a 15 year old and my opinions then is completely independent of who I am now and my current stances. But the 5-paragrapher doesn’t care about that, they got their ragebait strawman and a ride on the high horse so they are happy.
