I’d say letting people realize that even a picture of the guy with no violent messages attached gets removed is a really good way to get a point across.

That does suck, it’s kinda sad that the most popular Comic-oriented community is that uptight about profanity.
Although, if that happens again I suggest trying on a different community, even if it’s not fully comic-oriented or if it’s smaller (c/comics@programming.dev for example, it’s mostly inactive but it’s not uncommon at all for posts from near-dead communities to gain traction anyway).
It wasn’t a rule, there was just ambiguity on whether talking about jury nullification for Luigi’s trial fell under advocating for violence, which led to some confusion (they later clarified that talking about it in terms of encouraging future crimes still counts as advocating for violence, but if the crime already happened or if it’s non-specific it’s all good, afaik).
We need to get more people in here if we want it to actually be a Reddit competitor. Right now it’s good for some communities, but smaller ones are still extremely underpopulated.
The thread was about Global Switch Day, whose purpose is to leave proprietary social media for ones that won’t sell your data or get enshittified. So Rednote being proprietary already makes it irrelevant to the discussion.
Even if it actually was better than mainstream social media at the moment, it would still be at the same risk of being enshittified due to that. It’s just a bandaid solution, like people leaving Twitter for Bluesky.
And besides that, most sources I found say Rednote does have ads.

The ToS don’t specify anything about jury nullification, they just said it explicitly in this thread because apparently they removed comments about it in the past even if it was about crimes that already happened, and they wanted to make it clear where the (new) line exactly is.

I mean, I think reading has become even more important now that a lot of what we do and see is in the “screen world”… I just fear that social media and in general the clickbait culture brought people to only read/understand what aligns with their beliefs. And sadly older generations are just as affected as younger ones.
