Ich finde, dass man den Staat Israel und seine Regierung für sein Handeln kritisieren kann, ohne dass das antisemitisch ist. Natürlich werden die meisten Antisemiten auch Israel hassen, aber das macht nicht andersrum jeden Kritiker von Israel zum potentiellen Antisemiten, und so lange diese Kritik logisch fundiert ist, sehe ich auch nicht, wieso dieser Verdacht, wenn es nicht weitere Faktoren gibt, aufkommen sollte. Israel und das jüdisch sein auf diese Art zu vermengen nimmt in meinen Augen zudem Juden die stimme, die der Israelischen Regierung kritisch gegenüber stehen.

Es ist, denke ich, unstrittig, dass die Art und Weise auf die die Israelische Regierung in den letzten Monaten gehandelt hat, die auch von unabhängigen Medien berichtet wurde, wenn nicht gänzlich, zumindest in Teilen kritikwürdig ist.

I have read the thread, and sure, there is some sympathy for Hamas that seems questionable, but nothing more extreme than what you’re likely to read on most other online platforms. And while there are certainly things being said that I don’t agree with, I think that on an intellectual level, it makes sense that mistreating a population leads to people in that population becoming more likely to support extremist causes.

Also, I assume they’re using Hetzner, but I don’t see why they wouldn’t be able to switch to a different hosting provider in a different region if Hetzner decides to shut them down.

I am from Germany and I’m really not sure what law you’d apply here anyway. There’s the NetzDG, but that, to my knowledge, only applies to platforms that are run with the goal of making a profit, which I don’t think applies to most lemmy instances.

Calling out that bombing a population makes it more likely for people who lost families and homes to radicalise seems sensible. Under the post, there is a lot of criticism of Israel, which in my eyes isn’t necessarily antisemitism, which of course doesn’t mean that there aren’t antisemitic critics of Israel.

Of course, Israel is allowed to defend itself against attack, but what it has done and is currently doing in Gaza cannot in good faith be called defending itself.

Regardless of all that, as long as it isn’t very clear that there is no effort made to moderate incitement of violence and hate speech, it is rather difficult to hold a platform accountable for the speech of it’s users.

Seriously. I really liked Origins and had fun with 2 and Inquisition. If this is great, I’ll happily play it. If I don’t like it, I won’t - I have more backlog than time for games anyway. I don’t get what people get so angry about.

It was more supposed to be a joke about the second reason being much more significant.

Well, I don’t go there for two reasons -

• Their vegan options don’t seem that interesting.
• They don’t seem to have a presence in the continent I’m on.

The same attitude, not the same words. Both “I use Linux, that makes me better”, and “I use Windows because I actually need to get work done” seem rather smug to me.

It could of course be “I use Windows for my needs, but recognise that other might be happier with a different experience”, but to me it feels like “I am a serious adult, and they are not.”

If we wanna go down that metaphor than it’d be in a world where the only options for a fully featured experience currently where a mac and a Chromebook.

Fully Foss Smartphones are great as a concept, and I hope that Linux on mobile gets to a point where it’s usable as a sail driver, but it isn’t there yet for me, and I believe the same applies to a lot of people, which is kinda ironic to say in a comment thread in which I just wrote about recognising how personal experiences aren’t necessarily universally applicable, but whatever.

Well, it works for me and the people I have set it up for, which of course isn’t necessarily applicable to other people’s usecases.

I think I was mainly a bit miffed about your I use Windows because I actually need to get work done line because it felt like the same smug attitude you had been criticising. We all need to recognise that out experiences aren’t universally applicable.

We do have quite a few Linux evangelists on the platform, but i feel that’s kinda inherent to where lemmy as a platform came from. I think they are a bit silly, but making that a reason to not like a whole OS or ROM seems equally silly.

There are stable distros that just work™. In the end, you need a certain amount of knowledge for both Windows and Linux, and even then, I can recognise that Linux isn’t universally suitable at the moment. I can easily do everything I need for work on it, but I’m a software dev. Friends who are artists can’t, sice the tools they need just don’t exist on Linux, and are difficult to get to run in tools like Wine.

The stability argument is a bit of a low hanging fruit though, especially if you simultaneously point at working around Windows issues, which most of the population probably doesn’t want to learn doing either.

They do have a pretty fun playable game though. I bought one of the basic packs forever ago, and at this point, I wouldn’t even care if they where to exit scam. I don’t think they will, but I’ve certainly gotten my money’s worth out of it.

I feel like it varies quite wildly. Hard cheese seems to be pretty difficult to emulate well, while softer cheeses seem to be more doable (though there are some horrible ones). We have a local store that makes their own vegan replacements for stuff, and they have some soft cheeses that use the same mold as the originals, and they’re pretty good.

Cheese was the one thing that kept me from going fully vegan for some time. Don’t care about meat, don’t care about milk, but cheese, cheese is special.

I’ve been happier worth with Bricscad, but I mostly just need it for designing stuff to 3d print, so your mileage may vary.

It’s also not FOSS, of course, but I haven’t yet found FOSS cad software that works for me.

If you wanna court the laptop oem market, windows is the safer bet.

Depending on how in-depth they co-operated with the windows for arm team, keeping some details confidential till launch might have also been easier that way.

Haven’t read into this too much, but I think the affected person that made this get attention was a solo dev that was prototyping a solution for one of his customers.

And the reason he raised a stink was because he had a huge bill, as the name he chose for his bucket was by chance the same an open source project used as a sample bucket name, so whenever someone deployed it without first customising the config, it was pinging his bucket and getting a 403.

Haven’t played in forever, but this seems like they’re selling an A-rated, non-engineered ship. Don’t think this is pay to win. I don’t like it, but the game has been going for 10 years, and Frontier doesn’t seem to be doing great financially, so it might have well been this or shutting it down entirely.
