If your desk is only 3/4ths of a chain long, how will you fit more than one computer?
On linux it’s one pip install and you’re done
Isn’t that how packages/dependencies work on windows as well? Once I got pip updated, I’ve never had any issues with it.
Reminds me of an episode of Digimon where Joe (I think) says something like “I don’t like eating on an empty stomach.” But I think that was supposed to be an obviously bad excuse for not eating something he didn’t want to try rather than serious statement, but I was never certain…
Strats against bosses, how to obtain good items, etc
Also, lots of people really care about Souls story for some reason.
Mint broke all the time for me last time i tried using it. After reinstalling it for like the 8th time, I just decided to take a break from Linux. This was like 6 years ago though.
-it’ll only take like 15 minutes (don’t trust me: it’ll either be 3 minutes or 1 hour).
The fediverse isn’t that active. I’m sure a some people just see a good chunk of what is posted regardless of which community its posted in. So you’ll see people in a trans community posting on a meme and then later realizing that their comment is totally irrelevant to the community they were posting in and they totally missed the point of the meme.
At least we get other domesticated Caniformia (the “dog-like” suborder), just no domesticated Ursidae (bear family) specifically.
Next month is my desktops CPU model’s 10th birthmonth. Still my default computer.
That is what I am referring to. And the broader attention it has brought to the topic of misogyny in general, even when bears aren’t really the topic of discussion. From pull request discussions to discussions about misogyny vs misandry, it seems like a lot more popular topic lately.
Overall since November, its been trending upwards. Given the big spike in March, I think its only natural some people realize they didn’t want to be here in the couple months that follow.
Also there’s bit of a controversial topic lately that has made a certain demographic feel like this place is about as unwelcoming to them as much of the internet.
Honestly, I think I just avoid looking at people in general. I think it took a while for me to realize I was even doing something unusual. I think I noticed when people seemed to think I should know things like “what color shirt someone was wearing”. Like, why would I know? Not sure that was an autistic thing though or more of a “I don’t want people observing me, so I don’t do that to others” kind of thing.
How do you interpret other people’s eye contact?
If I noticed someone is making unusual amounts of eye contract, I probably laughed at them. Just seems ridiculous and they most be trying to do it as a joke.

The built-in ad block for my browser seems to work for me.
I really did always hate that Reddit felt like a massive echo chamber.
Lemmy is a collection of independent echo chambers that believe different things. You can make an account on some instance you never heard of before and get people assuming you have certain beliefs just because of your instance because apparently a lot of people stick primary to their home instance? In one instance, you have an echo chamber of “bOtH SiDeS aRe tHe sAmE” and other echo chambers that say things like “I won’t vote for someone who aids in genocide”.
Some instances block more instances than others (the one you are on has blocked 172 instances, for example). And some instances are blocked by a lot of instances (lemmygrad is blocked by 89 instances). Also some instances disable downvoting, if that’s something you’re interested in.
I don’t think overpolicing is an issue in most places? Like, there’s that one person who openly is pro-genocide in all of the palestine-related threads (like, they explicitly call for killing of even infants and that anything less is antisemitism) and I guess they’re tolerated (just probably one of the most heavily downvoted people on lemmy). But if they’re on an instance without downvotes, they wouldn’t even see them.
Can we just have the peanut butter?
The surgery is far far less painful (with local anesthetic) than an ingrown nail. Its not really a big deal.
Can’t tell if you’re saying they’re weird for having this sort of vehicle or weird for not wanting that kind of vehicle to be delivering at their doorstep?
As far as the phrase " Pregnant People" it does sound weird when you say it aloud. Its too illliteritive. Why not just Pregnant if theres a need to generalize or pregnant individuals?
I dont see how that sounds weird. If you don’t like the illiteration, you can replace it with another noun. Pregnant is an adjective afaik, so it needs a noun to be applied to. Of course language can change, but expecting vitamin manufactured to be the ones to change the part of speech of a word seems like getting the order backwards.
I feel that its just as easy to actually ASK the person in front of you what term they prefer you use and then just use that term rather than try and generalize and lump everyone together.
So vitamins aimed at pregnants (guess we are making it a noun now?) will have a person behind the table that asks what noun you want written on the bottle before they hand it to you?
This isn’t about individuals: it’s a mass produced product. Of course for individuals you can tailor the language to the individual. I don’t see why you would normal ask anyways: most of the time you’ll just be implying someone doesn’t pass, whether they’re cis or trans and if they’re trans and not comfortable coming out yet, then you may be putting someone is an uncomfortable position of choosing to come out or misgender themselves.
As a cis women i wouldn’t care to be referred to as a pregnant person but it would’ve really bother me enough for me to correct them. If they called me a pregnant man, I wouldn’t get all offended and think they hate all cis women, id just laugh and correct them
Seems like reasonable responses. I’d be confused why calling you a “person” would be incorrect, but I’d try to respect it, but I’d eventually conclude you are probably transphobic.
I present as a guy and my body is masculine, so people gender me that way. It’s not really a big deal imo - like there’s certain specific terms like “man” that are kinda icky, but I’m not gonna care at all if you say “he.”
But that’s just my own experience. Different people are going to be different. Still, at least most trans people I know don’t get mad at people for misgendering them, even if they have their pronouns on their shirt or the people misgendering them have been corrected many times and are just intentionally being disrespectful. Of course some of the times, those interactions may make someone’s day much worse even if they don’t show it at the time.
Cis people get the advantage of cis-by-default treatment. Of course trans people are going to be less secure in their gender on average given all of the transphobia in society. Even if a cis person is regularly misgendered, they can still easily feel secure in their gender simply because they of the way they were born. That same source of confidence for cis people is an obstacle to be overcome by trans people.
On one hand, I think some data is better than no data, so I think its fair to say that there is a lack of evidence for it being better in terms of in-game performance after setup based on it and that should just be the null assumption anyways.
On the other hand, its been over a decade since its been pretty well known that average FPS is not necessarily reflective of overall performance and throwing the frametime data into a spreadsheet and doing =percentile([range],.99) and =percentile([range],.999) and then dragging it to neighboring cells seems like a pretty minimal extra work for a commercialized channel. For niche testing like this, I’m less bothered by it because having some results seems better than nothing, but its still nice to see it pointed out.
