  • It’s honestly very little work to implement a way for a game to be offline… Basically just remove the method that checks for a server and that’s it…

What could be a bit more costly would be releasing server implementations so people can host their own game servers, but it should still be expected… Actually it wouldn’t be that hard IF it’s taking into account from the get go coz you can just release the last release before being shut down and that’s it

  • Yeah that’s my point like… It’s an ok game, the story has always been very bland to me, very predictable and simple, I’d at least forgive that if the gameplay was always fun an exciting, but people do everything in their power to ignore it’s flaws and just say it’s perfect and overhype it like there’s nothing to improve.

Rockstar knew how to make game mechanics that made cars feel amazing to drive in Midnight club 3 and LA, and the ones in GTAV are crap, they all feel like driving on ice, they knew how to make good gunplay like Max Payne 3,and in GTAV is bland as fuck. That’s what I mean. They clearly know how to do good stuff but in the last 13 years they really haven’t innovated at ALL, and why would they? People are STILL wasting money on GTA Online 13 years later, and the same people will still buy GTA6 3-4 times in the next 10 years

  • I mean, it ain’t bad, it’s fun(I’m on mission 13-14), it’s still a Doom game. But it’s definitely the weakest of the last 3 games.

The Atlan is a cool concept but it’s just slow combat, the dragon sections are okay I guess but not groundbreaking… The overall combat itself is fun, but it’s somehow less visceral than the other two games, glory kills are basically gone and you just do a melee attack most of the time… I honestly enjoyed Eternal much more, it’s combat made you use the mechanics in a better way

  • I agree, I like both, but Eternal does force you to use most of your weapons and other systems continuously, like having to use demons as piñatas. The DLC is brutal, I remember having to stop for a breather after a particular spot because it was too hectic, I was bouncing around the level trying to kill everything but also basically always being at the brink of death, pure adrenaline . 2016 is not bad either, is just a good game overall, it captures the same feeling as the original games, it’s slower, but it’s still damn enjoyable, and that’s also ok.

I just started The Dark ages yesterday and it DOES feel more bland vs eternal IMO (at least the first level), and the shield homing attack seems dumb to me IMO, but it’s still simple fun being an unstoppable demon slayer

Am I the only one who absolutely hates GTA?

It’s bland as fuck and somehow people go and fucking play the same shitty mechanic game for hundreds of hours for 13 years, not even mentioning the fact that they buy it 3 fucking times.

It’s not even out and I already absolutely hate this game and how everyone is hyping it to be next coming of Jesus when it’s going to be EXACTLY the same as the other ones with crappy storyline and a basic af gameplay

  • Lemmy won’t take off to that level, let’s be honest, the majority of people is turned off when they ask them to “choose an instance” and whatnot, most users just want to sign up and use the service, not learn about instances, which third party app to use and such…

It’s literally why this platform is mostly filled with IT people or at least Linux users lol.

I like Lemmy of course, but I’m being realistic, most people don’t care about FOSS alternatives, privacy and such

  • If you look for stores with good reviews and good sales numbers you’re 90% sure you’ll get what you paid for. There are some other sellers for these types of devices like LITNXT, and you can even find them on Amazon (usually more expensive).

If you want anything like PS2 or gamecube prepare to pay $150+ for a device, and most likely it will be an android based device like the retroid pocket devices

Most of these ambernic/Miyoo/powkiddy/Trimui Linux devices are aimed to play up to PSP, and some PSP games will run poorly, they’re using older cheaper chips, so they’re honestly weak devices.

IMO, best case is buying one of these devices for psp and below, and a steam deck or other handheld PC for PSP onwards… And PC gaming obviously.

I have an ROG Ally, and PS2, gamecube and WiiU runs great, but it feels like overkill for GBA and PS1 for example, so, for older emulation I just use this $60 device

  • Yes you can, just play other stuff… Just this year I’ve played and completed 10 games, including new games like FF7 Rebirth, and guess what? You can have fun with non RT lighting.

Like I said, PT is amazing, but if you need a $2000 GPU to experience it (and still have to rely on upscaling and FG to have a playable experience), maybe it’s just isn’t ready, it’s still a tech demo.

Hell Indiana Jones non PT Ray Tracing still looks great and can be ran on reasonable hardware, a 3060 can do 60fps average on native 1080p at high settings, that’s reasonable. A 5090 can do 40fps at 4K using PT, no DLSS…

sure sure DLSS and all that… The native performance is still what dictates the end result… I’m not paying $2K to get 40fps… RT is great on paper for devs, but CLEARLY devs are still having issues with it and the hardware isn’t there yet.

But clearly you’re probably an Nvidia fanboy so there’s no changing your mind.
