I’ve never been rear ended but then I bought my G37 and it was suddenly happening on a yearly basis. In the span of one year, I had a truck back into it when it was parked in our parking lot, got rear ended in traffic, then had a car reverse into me at a stop sign (driver pulled forward to make a turn but decided they couldn’t make it so threw it in reverse and gunned it). I may have been rear ended a second time that year but it’s hard to keep track of how many people drove into this car. After a while I quit making claims because that was a pain in the ass, bumpers look like I use it to nudge cars around a junkyard.

You’d have to determine when the camera turns on in order to determine when it shuts off. If it’s 30 on 10 off, you stay still for >40 seconds to ensure the camera is idle and ready to record, and then you spin, you can ensure camera turns on at your spinning, and then you know it’ll shut off on your 30 seconds, and you’re totally synced to the 40s cycle

I think a lot of people who would otherwise dabble with a DIY home server never try because it’s pretty technical (beyond typical ‘build a pc’ stuff) so I think the education that would come with the hardware would be appreciated by many. Help them get their foot in the door by making the dive a little less scary. Nothing too over the top but point them to the places where people hang out discussing the more technical crap for when that day comes

The Nvidia 7800GT Dual is an oddball card from that era. One thing to do is to check thrift stores for old busted ass Kirby or comparable vacuum cleaners. Even an Oreck XL. Does your adapter happen to have a PLX chip? Those are designed for this very specific use case. The adapter is designed to run on 8 lanes and the PLX chip handles the rest, so GPU in one slot and adapter (with PLX chip) in another slot, x8/x8 biggity bam. Right now you’re tryinf to run it x8 and those 8 lanes are just going straight to 2x M.2 as x4/x4, but PLX would divvy it all up essentially 4x M.2 at x2/x2/x2/x2, that kinda thing. If this adapter doesn’t have it and you can’t get this to work, and you’re willing to blow another hundred bucks, that other kind of adapter would def work.

Without knowing your motherboard I’d def download the manual and ctrl+f some promising keywords such as ‘bifurcation’ or ‘PCI’ and basically hunt for anything in the manual that describes settings to enable this. Sometimes on a 3 slot board the bottom ‘chipset’ slot can be toggled to run something different than PCH, like some other controller.

I’d also try running the adapter in every possible configuration, on the most current supported PCI-E standards and a previous generation if motherboard allows, ie: adapter top slot, GPU middle slot, GPU top slot, adapter 3rd slot (if mobo has one), disable PCI-E 4.0 or enable 3.0 each time just to see if some configuration works (kinda tedious but costs 0 dollars so why not)

We have fiber to the premises in our little 12 unit condo building. They installed a switch and all that, that’s theirs, the CAT runs in the walls are the association’s, and anything inside our walls is on us, including the router, but it still works and I’m too lazy to shell out on another quite yet. It’s really quite a layout since everyone has a little bit of responsibility at different points in the building.
