The perception of delay is a lot larger for a single initial delay than a lot of smaller delays within the game. It’s very noticable if a game takes 20 seconds to get past the intro screens, while it is barely noticeable if a quarter of a second of delay is added to the loading between each level, even if it adds up to a lot more than the initial loading screen.

Considering that the use of 5.1 surround would be a very rare case for the target aidience, I find the choice of dropping it to be excellent to enhance the experience.

For me, it’s several things:

As others have mentioned, sound mixing sucks on a lot of newer movies. Watching a movie with a pleasant max volume could render dialogue inaudible. Holy crap, that last batman movie was hard to watch.

While I watch movies, there are often a lot of things happening around me. The dog might be playing around, my girlfriend is having a phone conversation or there are noises from the kitchen. I am not great at mentally filtering out sounds, so subtitles help a lot.

I live in a country where subtitles have been around my whole life. Now that TV is on-demand rather than linear TV with hardcoded subs, most services enable subs by default, and it doesn’t really bother me.

It’s honestly more of an arrogance thing. I have a nice drill, screws and different types of cold glue. I don’t want my projects to be anything like the crap I see in 5 Minute Crafts, so I avoid the tool. I know, it makes no sense, but so far I have never really needed a glue gun.

I might be the dumb one in this one, but HR asked me if I know “design patterns”.

“I mean, yes, I know some design patterns. Any specific?”

“No, just if you are familiar with design patterns.”

Just looking at the thumbnail of this post reveals to me that reddit has takgen a bad step. An icon which scales well and is highly recognizable changed to something that looks like a badly generated figure which is way less recognizable. The added colors will make it look worse on different colored backgrounds as well. Not great.

Nope, you still have to adjust to an arbitary selection of numbers within that range, so it’s not really any more helpful than celcius if you don’t have experience with the scale.

It’s a bit of a mix. I think people generally say AI, but every source which aims at using Norwegian in a formally correct way are starting to adopt KI. Many radio hosts seem frustrated, as they are suddenly required by the producer to switch up an acronym they have been using for several years.

We have the same with EEA (european economic area, that part of EU which norway is a part of). It’s EØS here. It makes it convoluted to discuss, especially since EEA is mainly brought up in international subjects. And the actual words behind the acronym is never brought up, so the acronym serves mainly as a name, making the differentiation even more useless.
