I believe under the CCPA which is a California law that is also strong and would also require them removing your data. It might apply to them even if you don’t reside in California since that is where they are based.

You could try a GDPR request. They are required to actually delete it permanently from their database and backups.

Of course it is public. But I can be pseudo anonymous. I can have multiple aliases on different instances and I don’t have to register my phone number or other personal information. There’s no trackers tracking every damn thing I look at and correlating it all together. I can use it over Tor or VPN if I need more anonymization…

I don’t prune my YouTube content, so I don’t have first hand experience, but tubearchivist supports auto deleting content after X time period after it has been watched.

I think if you are watching through Jellyfin rather than tubearchivist, you’ll need to enable synchronization so Jellyfin can synchronize watched status back to Jellyfin.

I use tubearchivist to automatically download new videos from my subscriptions and then use Jellyfin + the tubearchivist plugin to organize them.

Now all my you tube videos show up as organized, ad free shows on my personal streaming service!

As someone who lives in an ex-industrial city (Birmingham Alabama), I’ve always been worried about air pollution and tainted soil (there are superfund sites nearby). I feel like every thing would have to be above ground and covered. That seems like a lot of work. Should I be worried?

I highly recommend a fiio X1. You’ll have to find a used or refurb, but they are crazy simple, cheap, and have excellent sound quality.

Throw in a 256g sd card and mount it as a usb disk.

It has physical buttons and a scroll wheel like the old iPods.
