This is peak lemmy progressive right here.
“It’s not my fault I helped Trump get elected; it’s the DNC’s fault for failing my obscure purity test. Who cares that Trump is worse on every issue I care about.”

You Lemmy progressives need to be honest with yourselves. If “not a fascist” wasn’t enough to make you vote for Harris there isn’t a candidate in the universe that would have passed your purity test. It’s almost like you actually wanted Trump to win.
If you count humans as animals then cocaine and clothing from companies like Temu and Shein aren’t vegan.
Cocaine manufacturing and distribution is full of human exploitation and suffering. Using it should go against the vegan ethos of avoiding consumption of things that are the product of exploitation. Similar to honey, milk, or eggs.
Similarly, Shien and Temu make nearly all of their products using slave labor in terrible working conditions using dangerous chemicals without any precautions.
Unfortunately the right has spent an incredible amount time and money making LGBTQ, DEI, and other “woke” issues the focus of the conversation around progressive politics. It’s gotten to the point where anyone who supports broad application of civil rights has to spend all of their time and energy defending that support leaving no time or energy to pronote their economic policies like improved working conditions, better healthcare, or accessible child care.
It’s a flood the zone strategy that has worked incredibly well. Particularly in purple districts where Democratic representatives that barely won thier districts see no path to reelection if they continue to support “woke” issues.
They’re at the point where it’s abandon some social issues and get reelected so they can champion economic issues, or continue to support social issues and lose their seat to a Republican who won’t do either. Unfortunately in the real world their are people that have different opinions than ours and so elected officials have to pick their battles.
If the Houthi’s are going to enact a shipping ban then I assume they’re willing to accept the consequences of enforcing the ban.
That was an interesting video but the dude begging framework to send him products to demo was really desperate.
I guess I can’t blame him, those framework desktops look bad ass.
That’s what it looks like to me. To be honest though just about everything on the internet is probably more important than what Elongated is saying.

In the the US laws are passed by the legislative branch, in particular laws around spending are passed by the House of Represtatives. Currently the House or Representatives is controlled by the Republican party, the party of which Donald Trump is the undisputed leader. As such Trump has sufficient control over the Republican party to broadly control the parties legislative priorities, including spending. In fact he has already used this authority to enact his legislative priorities around spending and immigration reform among other things.
Donald Trump has directed the Republican party to support the genocide in Gaza, so the Republican party provides the funding necessary to for the IDF to conduct the genocide in Gaza.
Additionally when Donald Trump was president he did several things to empower Israel including moving the US embassy to Jerusalem and required all Palestinian affairs to go through this embassy.
While the Democratic party has played a part in supporting the genocide, Donald Trump and the Republican party absolutely have the power to stop the US from passing funding bills to arm the IDF and help stop the genocide. Instead he and the Republican party he leads enthusiastically support what Israel has been doing in Gaza and now are trying to do in Lebanon. There’s every reason he’ll take the US’s support for the genocide even further.
This reticence to give out CHIPS Act funding right away apparently stemmed from fears from the government that Intel specifically would not meet its promises. “[There is fear that] Intel is going to take chips money, build an empty shell of a factory and then never actually open it, because they don’t have customers,” said former Commerce Department official Caitlin Legacki.
Honestly this seems like rare reasonable move by the federal government.
Probably donate to your local food bank more often.
