I would say that Pixelfed is closer to the microblog space than it is the threaded discussion space.
It’s essentially microblogging except with an image media focus (or video, in the case of Loops.)
To each their own, some people communicate better using pictures, some better over short text, some better over long-form text. There’s a space for them all :smile:
> Ubuntu 8.10 Intrepid Ibex also had its namesake animal on the default wallpaper, but more subtle than the last release.
That was an Ibex? All this time I thought it was a coffee stain.
melroy@kbin.melroy.org oh sorry to hear that :frowning: hopefully Dan hasn’t moved on from FediDB already.
melroy@kbin.melroy.org I think you have to open a PR to their repo to get it updated?
@iso@lemy.lol what’s a “lemmy-like” PM :laughing: I think this explains why I can’t log into the site.
I think the FEP process is overly complicated for what it is, but it’s definitely helpful if you have multiple implementors on board.
The easiest (but least accessible) solution is to document something on your own site, but that lacks the social proof that a finalized FEP has.
Just some food for thought 🙂 I’m looking to create an FEP for cross posting and would love to get the entire threadiverse dev community involved.
@rimu@piefed.social interesting, how does this differ from tags?
Edit: I see the other post you made. I’m interested in this but hoping you’ll write up an FEP for this so it is more easily implemented by others.
@melroy@kbin.melroy.org NodeBB here, agreed.
It really is the most succinct nickname to describe the type of software we are… and I feel that outweighs possible association with Threads.
Let’s clarify something here. Mastodon follower only posts don’t have the “public pseudo user” addressed, do they?
That’s the important piece that this whole thing hinges upon
If it is present, Mastodon is a fault. If not, Pixelfed messed up.
Am I mistaken?
For example, a followers-only post is addressed to the followers collection of the author, at minimum. When NodeBB sees this, it doesn’t even consider it public, because the public pseudo user isn’t addressed. We also have no concept of “followers only”, but we handle them just fine.
@lost_my_mind@lemmy.world hate to break it to you, but Nokia sold their brand to HMD Global, and their new phones are … lacking in the indestructibility department. They are hefty though, I will say.
I owned two of them, and I got the ones that worked well. Some of the QC was wonky too.
@deadsuperhero@lemmy.world OMG roastmaster Sean, where can I subscribe to hear more of this.
@raginghungrypanda@lemm.ee for discovery, the best looking up-and-coming solution is Ghost. They’ve been around for a decade plus, but they’re actively working on their ActivityPub integration.
Early looks at their discovery reader is really promising. A separate tab for “Article” type posts, and another for “feed” type posts.
A lot of the other long form softwares are aligning on the standard that Ghost will try to set… NodeBB, WriteFreely, WordPress, etc. They’ve all signalled compatibility with each other, which is great!
For more, see @index@activitypub.ghost.org
@dannyboy@sh.itjust.works me too! The fact that I wasn’t alone in making this mistake kind of goes to show the kind of people on fedi lol
@fxomt@lemm.ee this summary is gold.
PewDiePie built his fame and fortune on a centralized platform.
I am not certain whether he will see the benefit of a decentralized future beyond dollar signs.
Happy to be proven wrong.
