If you ever want to observe or engage (be ready for the pile-up) with these same folks, r/ShitPoliticsSays contains the exact same user-base of extremists. These are dyed-in-the-wool folks because they use this as a launching-point for brigading other subs comment threads. Lots of Canadian righties there, too. The only credit I’ll give is unlike r/conservative that they never censored so you could pretty much discuss and test argumentative points to your heart’s content.

Imagine being them, subbed to a “Reddit” community on Lemmy, complaining about people who use reddit…

I just happened to stumble upon the Lord of the Flies film on IFC one night at the perfect age of a kid. Was like, “oh wow cool bunch of kids trying to survive on an island this looks like a cool movie!” … an hour later and I grew up real fast.

Also many of the mods on default subs, not all, are literal teenagers lacking a modicum of reason or maturity I swear. Not the brightest bulbs.

This is the reality. A doctor is trying to see as many patients as possible who want to be seen. Not every condition requires the same amount of time. They do their best to estimate, but ultimately, if a doctor is willing to give you extra time, then the price is usually paying it forward by waiting longer in the waiting room for fellow patients. If you’re late when they are ready, then you drop the efficiency of the entire day. If you’re ready when they’re not, well, yes, their time is actually more valuable in this case.

I was working in the hospital at the time from a big-picture perspective and it seemed pneumonia cases were already spiking in the US during December 2019. My sister and my coworker both came down with a nasty “pneumonia” during then as well.

The first point of your comment I completely disagree with; the second point acknowledges why the the first point is bullshit to begin with. Yes, someone can be incompetent and require corrective action. This was not it and completely, grossly unacceptable. That he had to adjust his behavior is an acknowledgement to this. We are all flawed humans; but some are more flawed than others. That being said, if it’s true he has reflected and taken corrective action on his own negative behaviors, kudos to him.

Right. Unless you’re a complete power-user whose entire life revolves around reddit, even the it’s a massive risk akin to saying, “I’m going to go start a successful YouTube channel!” (which would still be a better venture).

Of the three people involved in Reddit’s creation, he was the most useless and antithetical to reddit’s greater vision.

Swartz was a far better person.

After 10 years, approaching a million comment karma, and many sourced write-ups and copy pastas I got a fair amount. Probably 200 of a mixture of gold and the occasional platinum. This was concentrated in later years as I better understood reddit, and understood specific audiences more. I strove to give genuinely good information, too.

Unfortunately reddit’s admins are lazy, suck, and some subs’ moderators even worse (looking at r/news) and they screwed me. Their loss. I’ll find another platform to publish content, like here of course and elsewhere.

… And just like that, Reddit is down site-wide. Awfully convenient.
