Things just seemed pointless cause the old myths are fucking lies and I’m tired of killing myself for others during the prime years of my life.
What do you do when your apathy is due, in part, to the world being a cesspool where a few have the most? It really sucks.

Can you elaborate on this? Isn’t D&D just a book of rules, which can be used to the letter or changed per campaign? How would anyone force players to switch to another ruleset? Are they SWATing sessions and confiscating old rule books?

When I was a Boy Scout, one summer at camp, a bad storm had rolled in around 7-8pm. We had just finished dinner and made it back to our campsites when the administration decided to issue the alarm urging scouts to return to the central lodge due to sever weather being reported.
Us and another local scout unit were at a site situated at the top of a very large hill. Like, you’d get off a bike if you had to go up this thing. That kind of hill. As soon as the alarm sounded to get down to the central lodge, we booked it down the hill. As did the other scout unit from our area
A little wet but otherwise fine, all the scouts and staff from the area entered the lodge and sat on the benches. From my perspective, I heard some gasps, a thud, and some screaming for help. I had no idea what was going on initially. Came to find out that the troop leader of the other local scouts had lurched over and fell on the ground, apparently suffering from a heart attack.
All of us scouts, the leaders son included, had to sit there and watch a troop leader and father die before their eyes. It took the ambulance 30 minutes or so to get up to the campsite. The local scout administration performed CPR and did everything they could to keep him alive. He was probably dead soon after hitting the floor of the lodge.
I have never forgotten this and is one of the primary reasons I try to take care of myself. Dude was a large guy but a great leader based on what I saw of him. I felt bad for his troop and his family. I hope that family and troop managed to get closure.
I think the son was getting or had gotten that red arrow sash they give out for something scouts can do. Sorry, it’s been 20-years since I was in scouts.

Ahh the early 2000s. What a time to be a teenager with new tech, a dialup network, and bootleg videos that occasionally contained someone’s browser or a floating mouse or a separate video that briefly starts playing over the screen-capped video!

I’d imagine it’s due to a lot of smaller companies/orgs that can’t afford it and have too few users or machines to justify the costs associated with management infrastructure and costs. I know a lot of companies just buy machines with Pro and have some local IT configure them manually. Pro is marginally better than Home, with regards to management capabilities, but still has some bullshit that is tough to manage consistently.
Technically, GPOs are just registry adjustments with English definitions tacked on. No doubt there will be tools for Home editions to fix this; for those that look, that is.
An example of this, that comes to mind, is Windows Update Blocker (WUB). All it does is enable the policies that block Windows Updates from Microsoft servers and stops their attempted workaround of the Windows Update Medic or whatever it is, which is solely talked with making sure the WU service is running. These are the same policies/registry settings that are triggered when an enterprise org uses WSUS to control update deployment.
I don’t doubt, though, that Microsoft will to something shitty to ensure Home users cannot block it forever.
Yeah, gonna suck for all those with Home who become the AI trainers of tomorrow! While it’ll suck for us in IT who constantly have to pivot and scramble to block shit every time Microsoft or other software company decides to jam AI into it’s product.

I agree, reverse proxy was also a little mind numbing before I really buckled down and read/watched a bunch of info on it. I learn best by examples and try-fail, but that’s hard to do with live services.
One can hope. Unfortunately, too many are caught up in wedge-issues to solidify against the parasite class and demand change. When those same rich fucks own all the communication means and information storage, they’d just shut down our ability to coordinate if we ever grouped up to take on that group and this shit world they’ve created.
Great idea. I just wish the fixes weren’t reliant on the same foxes “guarding” the hens. Also, I think they do this in a Scandinavian country with income-based fines. Would be nice, but just a pipe dream until we can do something about this stupid fucked up government!
I saw a post a while back that said millennials use “no problem” instead of “you’re welcome” because no problem signifies the act was of little effort and was no problem to do. However, “you’re welcome” implies entitlement, as in you are welcomed to my time and effort, or some shit. I don’t remember, but yeah, just a “generational thing.”
So yeah it’s a “can I speak to your manager” boomer thing, as usual. Only group I ever see getting their panties in a wad over a phrase. Just like “Merry Christmas” changing to “Happy Holidays” erases their religion or dares to put other similar holidays, in the same approximate time of the year on equal footing, making their religious holiday less significant.

I mean, do it? No reason to announce it here, and no one will care about your plethora of cameras. Why would what someone chooses to add to their property be something that “pisses you off” so much?
Windows Update Blocker (WuB) is great, has CLI to use in scripts, and effectively turns off Windows updates and prevents the dickhead “Windows update medic” or whatever service from re-enabling updates. No need to modify registry or GPO. When you want to check for updates, you just click a button in WuB! I love it and even use it in my VM for work.
