Ok, this is super interesting and a bit of a weird coincidence, because on the page you linked it mentions that they are also a community of the blind and it is really important to me to have my page be accessible to visually impaired people, and I already made some steps into making it screen-reader compatible. I still need feedback from them though because not being blind myself I cant be sure if what I used to test the screen-reading is actually what the blind community uses, nor if it would actually be useful for them!

Do they offer hosting and ssh access? If so, how can I go about setting all that up?

Hetzer seems like its got a good deal (1.76 euro / month max for the lowest tier which should be way more than enough for what I want to do) but when I looked at the scaleway price page I was greeted with several sections like bare metal and compute. Which one should I be looking for to just host a simple webpage? Also, having done a little more research into hosting, I guess I will be going with nginx and gunicorn (correct me please if this is overkill) so I guess having ssh access to the server is necessary. I’ve got linux experience so thats not a learning curve for me at all.

Edit: Also for hetzer, looking at their most basic tier in more detail, they have this following feature listed:

You can equip yourself with a free basic SSL certificate simply by going to the "SSL Manager" menu tab in your account on the konsoleH user interface.

The offer only stands if Symantec can supply a free certificate for the domain.

Even though I’m not actually reading any sensitive user data or storing anything, I think having https will inspire confidence and is just generally better to have than not, so how can I make sure that my domain is elligible for the free certificate?

1. Why use bottles rather than lutris? Whats their difference? Im asking because the one time I tried using bottles I dont think I managed to get it to work with whatever it was I was trying to install.
2. Ive never heard of portproton, but it looks like it does essentially the same thing as if you install through the steam client as a non-steam game using proton (?). If thats the case, why use it over any of the other options?

You will probably need a compositor. In this case it would do what it sais on the tin - “composite” (add up) the alacritty window with whatever is behind it.

Also, I would just like to point out that before lemmy (and subscribing to various EU communities) I was not at all active in voicing my opinion about such things as I didn’t have any idea that it was even possible/how to do it. Lemmy as a whole has helped me become more active in this regard :D

But I also dont want us to align ourselves with fascists, they have nothing good to offer, and it feels disgusting being associated with them in aby way, and hoping to regain our friendship with them.

The cancelling of the email account is not the reason. Its a very small part of the reason. The reason is that the US has for decades been fascist (as I have been saying in other threads, it didn’t turn fascist overnight with the election of one man), imperialist, and generally a bully. As the UK was before it (and still is, apparent from their aid to the genociders), and as all empires have been and will be. It’s always been fascist just been very good at biding it’s time before “going public” with it, while working from the shadows to further its own agenda.

Its time we in Europe stop pretending that the US is capable of being anything other than an enemy. Its not just trump. If they do it once, theyll do it again. Whether its 1, 2, or several administrations down the line. We need to start distancing ourselves from them ASAP

/e/os is a degoogled os, so not out of the box. Im not sure if you can opt to install them yourself later (why would you though) and i dont want to put any of that crap on this just to test it. The closest to a google thing it has is gApps, which is an open source implementation of google services.
