So yeah, proton founder cherry picked information that tried to make it seem like it was acceptable to praise the pick when reality is the past is too murky to endorse in any manner. Another thing is virustotal is a good site for scanning programs before running it, since it’ll scan it with every possible virus scanner available.

Windows defender and browsing the web with something ublock origin to block ads is sufficient. And just having virustotal scan a program before running it will protect you from most stuff.

If you do insist on a third party virus scanner then eset is one I used to use for years before sticking with defender. It is from Slovakia.
