I never had it back then, but I had the demo disc and we played that for hours. Just two characters and one stage, and that still gave us endless fun.

I played Power Stone 2 with a friend last weekend (the new rerelease on steam, not on a Dreamcast) and it was great. A perfect “pick up and play” couch coop game.

The ship section is just going to be the entirety of Skull and Bones, bolted on to this game. It’ll just swap the entire game to the Skull and Bones executable. They will recuperate their money on that game! It’s only a failure if you give up!

Gotcha. The web UI in wallabag is nice and works pretty well with ereaders. It’s already black-and-white, although it doesn’t have pagination, so you’ll have to scroll.

I’ve been using Wallabag for a few years now and really like it. (It’s the one thing I’m not selfhosting, though – I’ve been using their hosted service. But it should run on a raspberry pi with no problems.)

You can also export to epub, but you have to do that manually. OP, does your ereader run android? There are wallabag apps available, which are nice because they usually work offline after downloading articles from your wallabag server.

If you really liked the interactions between the characters, honestly I think The Murder of Sonic the Hedgehog did that better than any of the other games did. If that’s the main appeal for you, you’ve already played the best one. I haven’t read the comics myself, but like others have mentioned, that’s probably what you’re looking for.

Sonic Adventure 1 and 2 feature many of the same characters as The Murder of Sonic the Hedgehog, but the dialog isn’t really as polished. It’s an English translation of a Japanese game at a time when they were still trying to figure out how to do cutscenes in 3D Sonic games. But based on your criteria, I’d say those are a good starting point, though. They’re both on Steam. (The first game is called Sonic Adventure DX because it has the “upgraded” graphics that many fans think is actually a downgrade in art style. There are mods to change things back to their original look. I think this SADX mod installer installs all of them for you.)

Sonic X Shadow Generations has many of the levels from Sonic Adventure 1 and 2, but lacks the same cutscenes and characters. The gameplay is great, though.

And if you liked the OST, then you’ll definitely like the music in the 2D games, especially Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Sonic the Hedgehog 3 & Knuckles, and Sonic Mania.

When Redis messed with their licensing terms a while ago, I thought to myself, “which project that I rely on will be next?” And I kept thinking it was going to be Minio.

So I switched from Minio to Garage a few months ago and it has worked great. I used the AWS cli to start copying everything over one evening, and when I woke up the next day, it was done. My S3 use is just one giant bucket for my music collection in Funkwhale, so I only had the one command to run. After updating the S3 urls in Funkwhale’s configuration, everything was good to go.

This has all made me start paying closer to attention to what kind of organization is behind the various open source projects that I use. Garage is made by a web development shop in France – they might even be a coop, or I might be thinking of someone else. I could be wrong about that last part. But they’re definitely not a VC-backed operation like Minio.

I think it looks great, especially the horizontal one. Lately I’ve been thinking about putting my current parts into a new case so that I can add a DVD drive. I still have a lot of games from 1999 - 2010ish that are on discs, and I’d like to be able to actually use them.

Also, my gaming PC is in my living room, like a console. A horizontal case would be perfect for that.

What you are referring to as pedantry, is in fact, semantics/pedantry.

Games on medium settings from eight years ago still look amazing in my opinion. Plus, sticking to the older hardware is great way to finally play those games that you bought because they were on sale for $3 that you never even installed. (Don’t we all have a few dozen of those?)

I installed Grafana, simply because it was the only one I had heard of, and I figured that becoming familiar with it was probably useful from a professional development standpoint.

It’s definitely massive overkill for my use case, though, and I’m looking to replace it with something else.

Android itself does plenty of data collection on its own; I’m not sure if the brand really makes much of a difference here, unfortunately.

I installed Sailfish OS on a Sony Xperia phone a few years ago, and that worked well enough. I had a couple of Android apps that I needed to use for work, and Sailfish has some kind of Android environment built in that lets you run Android apps. I worked for me, but I didn’t try any payment apps or others that tend to be picky about what type of phone you’re using.

Calling this a Marathon game makes no sense, and I don’t just mean aesthetically. The business case can’t possibly be there, either.

Anyone who has a nostalgic attachment to Marathon (👋) won’t be interested in this new game, and anyone interested in this new game probably doesn’t care about the name “Marathon.”

On top of that, there’s the fact that Marathon kind of looked like Halo. When Bungie made Halo, they were clearly taking after their own art style from their previous games. Which means Bungie could have announced that they’re making a singleplayer first person shooter that kind of looks like Halo. Everyone would have lost their minds. Instead, they announced yet another live service game, and no one is interested.

In case anyone misread the headline the way I did: The PS5 is selling about the same as the PS4 did at this point in its lifespan. The headline kind of makes it sound like the PS4 is still selling as many consoles as the PS5 today.

Honestly, I’m kind of surprised that it’s selling that well at all, considering how much of this generation has just been remasters of PS4 games.

With Forza coming out on PS5 a few days ago, and now this, it definitely seems like Playstation owners will be playing Halo soon.

A few months ago I couldn’t sleep, so I turned on the TV and flipped through the regular old channels for the first time in probably about 15 years. There was a sumo tournament on NHK (Japanese public broadcaster) and I was immediately hooked. I’ve been following each tournament since then.
