Collabora developer Faith Ekstrand has announced a nice big milestone for the open source Mesa driver NVK, the NVIDIA Vulkan driver, as it has expanded Vulkan 1.4 conformance to now include Maxwell+ (Maxwell, Pascal, and Volta GPUs).
I felt this too. I made a new PC from a 3080 to a 7900 XT and I went from 30 FPS in Monster Hunter WIlds to 110 FPS (using linux). Even though I improved the CPU from 3800x to 9800 X3D, I feel like the 20 GB VRAM is the biggest factor. I hope Intel can catch up with GPUs because AMD is the only reasonable option rn.
