I’m always disappointed in my friends when they use Uber for rides or food delivery. Or any other similar services like Lyft or Skip the dishes or whatever.
I prefer to order my food straight from the restaurants, many of whom have their own delivery service. Though less and less. Also the official Taxi services in my city now have an app similar to Uber. Prices may be higher sometimes, but they’re stable. Unlike Uber and their variable rates depending on demand.
Very good point. I think a lot of people dont know that yet. I’ll start informing my friends about that.
I joined a union for gig workers (among others) and they have successfully fought for gig workers in the past. I can only suggest to do this for everyone (either out of solidarity or pure self interest).
Together we will make this world a better place. :)
Surprised no one has commented, this is a real trend. This is my personal perspective and overview based on what’s happening due to AI: It looks to me like Gig/Tech/IT jobs are no longer a secure field. No longer a field where you’d expect to have a stable long term employment or a place to make the big bucks and move on. AI is a threat on itself to IT/Gig jobs. There are some that sure will remain and be needed, but they will be limited because before AI if you needed 10, 20+ developers, now you might need 5 or even less. And that goes to a LOT of positions so the majority will be fired and will need to look for something else to do.
