      Why this NSFW?

Because Lemmy doesn’t have a different kind of content warning. Some people get really nervous or even depressed by the massive amount of bad news floating around the world and just want a couple of minutes of funny memes to unwind. It’s just polite to mark such things, especially when posting them in communities that are usually reserved for more lighthearted content.

Edit: okay guys. Someone has to explain to me why this is getting downvoted. Is it factually incorrect? Is it rude? Or does it hurt your feelings that some people use the fediverse differently than you do?

The content warning is the title being ‘Content warning: gaza genocide’, you don’t need to also mark it nsfw when it isn’t nsfw. At least when it isn’t actually graphic in any way.

Besides, this isn’t the comm for lighthearted content anyways. Way too much politics here.

As for why you’re getting downvoted… it’s three people. They probably just think marking this nsfw is ridiculous, because the title is a content warning already. It also might be that people downvote anyone that says, “why am I getting downvotes!”

You’re getting downvoted because you mentioned the downvotes.

Downvotes are meaningless. If you never say anything that people disagree with once in a while then you’re just here agreeing with everyone to make yourself feel better.

Just own it: got something to say? Give me your spiciest downvote and come at me in the comments dweebs.

It seems that most everyone has forgot that apocalyptic religious zealots still run the world, and we haven’t escaped the psychosis of the old “holy blood” monarchies that are bent on achieving their prophecy. Evangelicals/Zionists are in charge globally, and they want the rapture. We shouldn’t expect anything else from our leaders except that, unless we’re prepared to physically stop them permanently.

    Israel: “and?”

Whenever the liberals and leftists of the world figure out thst “gotchyas” aren’t winning anything is the day we actually stand up and do something.

Greta goes home, everyone in Israel sighs and goes back to killing Palestinians.

Liberals: “maybe we didn’t send the right celebrity? Anyone got Natalie Portman’s number?”

Ugh. Yes. The gotchas are totally a pacifier.

“Hmm, nice genocide. Unfortunately for you I found this Twitter post you made ten years ago which proves you are acting hypocritically. Another victory for my cause!”

Like…you have achieved nothing by identifying and publicizing these hypocrisies. Only very logical people care about hypocrisy. Most people just want what they want, and will pick up any reason for it as long as it comforts them, then discard that reason and replace it with a mutually exclusive one later as needed. The only people that care about hypocrisy are logical, and as a general rule, the logical people already agree with you.

No, they aren’t the same, but a lot of their efforts are similar and they populate the same areas of the internet and political spheres. There are a few leftists sitting behind liberal desks. AOC is one of them.

To be honest, even though kidnapping a eu official is a much bigger deal than a Swedish citizen, I totally understand why Greta’s involvement lead the news before. But now Greta is safe is am really glad the news is continuing to cover this. Could be more, yes, but if this happened last year there would be a lot less news coverage for sure.

Well, it is a rather multilayered phrase. And sarcasm is present there too. And yes, I really think that most of the US citizens are racists. Even those who call themselves “woke” (I suppose this is exactly the case: the “woke” US citizen mumbling some racist shit while being sure that he is being super anti-racist).

So it isn’t 50/50, more like 4/6/33/23/15/19 or something :)

Lmao Europeans literally invented racism. Who do you think colonized the rest of the world and got us all into this mess.

Just cause it manifests differently in Europe in the modern day doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist there, and if you truly don’t see the racism in whatever part of Europe you’re in, then you are part of the racist problem.

Most white people are racist…including the majority of Europeans. Just ask your average European about the Romani people and you’ll get to hear some “interesting” opinions.

(I suppose this is exactly the case: the “woke” US citizen mumbling some racist shit while being sure that he is being super anti-racist).

Pointing out that international media has biases when it comes to ethnicity is not racist. Claiming that racism is not a problem in Europe, or that European news is devoid of racial biases is racist.

Always glad to know …and I’m guessing here, that a white dude from one of the most privileged places in the world still think of themselves as the authority when it comes to defining racism… It’s reassuring that some things will never change.

Yes, we hate gipsies. But not because of their race (they don’t even have a separate race), but because of some nuances of their culture that involve a lot of criminal.

Lol, if you want to split hairs like that… race itself is not an actual classification system and isn’t real in any meaningful way. What it represents is a bias against certain ethnic groups based off of an ever changing list of generalities.

What the general public interprets as racism is unfounded bigotry against individuals or groups of people for simple belongings to an ethnic group. Having negative preconceived notions against an ethnic minority like the Romani people is racism, and attempting to escape the accusation of racism by engaging in semantics is just pathetic.

tell that bullshit to another racist like you.

Lol, I’m a bi-racial ethnic minority living in the most conservative state in America…You are a white European that just accused an entire ethnic group of being criminals…and I’m the racist?

You don’t get a pass on your privilege because you live in Europe…an entire continent that enriched itself by engaging in colonialism self validated by racial theory. Go kick rocks bigot.
