Krispy Kreme employs 22,800 people, yet the personal information of 160,000 were stolen. Why do they have personal information for so many people, and why are they keeping that information?

We need privacy laws in this country that make companies scared to hold on to personal data for any longer than absolutely necessary.

It’s a summer job and an after-school gig for a lot of students. Likely they have long rosters of employees who worked a summer job going back however long they kept the digital database.

There also needs to be punishment harsher than a couple bad headlines and $600 worth of identity protection services. If they have personal data, it should be more expensive to have it leaked like this than to have adequate data security in place.
