The only option is to go for a different brand altogether, and many customers aren’t interested in doing that. Especially if the brand is something people associate with their identity, like BMW.
The issue is completely different: we have much too high entry barriers into that market. For good reason, some might say, but I think that a straightforward, standardized, inexpensive safety testing and certification process would make it easy for a lot of people to build their own cars or just electrify used cars. Instead we are stuck to very few manufacturers, even fewer shops that can electrify a car…
And BMW knows their market will pay a subscription to maintain that identity.
Bullshit, 100% blame can be put on these companies.
