I disagree, this assumes that every node (instance, server, whatever you want to call it) has to be twitter size.
I can self host my own gotosocial instance, follow people I like, and it will give me their posts, and I can interact with them.
In fact, atproto scales even worse horizontally than ActivityPub, it scales quadratically.
I love how it isn’t a requirement for a DID to be decentralised. did:plc is completely centralised.
Some servers ignore downvotes from other servers.
I found one subreddit that had no active mods, and a bot that admittedly did a pretty good job, but the subreddit was totally dead as a result.
The only way to stop that is to remove the downvote button.
