No navel… Definitely pre 60s. Even photos of film stars were censored in that regard.

Doing some looking around, looks like this is a page from Betty and Veronica #201, which was published in 1972. Also, the one posted has been colorized, it was originally black and white. image

Nah, the bell bottoms, the heart shaped belt buckle, the clunky shoes, the decor, the micro-bikini, etc., all screams 60s.

What?! The belly button was obscene at one point?

I guess that kind of makes sense contextually but it’s still extremely silly.

Yep. Saw some magazines from the 50s on a flea market here in Germany, and they showed pictures of some actresses in swim wear frollicking on a beach.

        They were clones.

Is that the reason why the bra burning feminism took place in the USA ?

Up until a few years ago the US was one of the better countries with women’s rights. Not to say that the US was great in this regard, just everyone else sucked more. Our abortion laws were considered quite progressive and radical for a while there.

It’s called markdown. (More specifically CommonMark)

You can check out the supported syntax by Lemmy HERE. It has a lot of other features available to format text & stuff.

You can attach hyperlinks to text like that. The format is [the text you want to show up] (the url). You just have to get rid if the space between the ] and the ( that I put in to stop it from happening this time.

When the composer of that song died, I read in his obituary that he had called that song a “non-stop money-making machine,” because it generated royalties so consistently for decades.

Comic Strips is a community for those who love comic stories.

The rules are simple:

  • The post can be a single image, an image gallery, or a link to a specific comic hosted on another site (the author’s website, for instance).
  • The comic must be a complete story.
  • If it is an external link, it must be to a specific story, not to the root of the site.
  • You may post comics from others or your own.
  • If you are posting a comic of your own, a maximum of one per week is allowed (I know, your comics are great, but this rule helps avoid spam).
  • The comic can be in any language, but if it’s not in English, OP must include an English translation in the post’s ‘body’ field (note: you don’t need to select a specific language when posting a comic).
  • Politeness.
  • Adult content is not allowed. This community aims to be fun for people of all ages.
